Description: Spreading its wings far from Shoreditch’s Rivington Street original in London, Rivington Grill, Souk Al Bahar was the first to open in Dubai, followed by a second, Rivington Bar and Grill that opened in 2012. The restaurant, located in the cosmopolitan Downtown area, is very well known in Dubai and is famed and loved for its seasonal menu, simplistic décor, friendly staff and fantastic views. The Rivington Grill concept is ‘back to basics’ home cooked food, offering authentic British classics, with what the chef’s call ‘a Rivi twist’.The adjoining terrace is the restaurant’s highlight; sitting over the water ways of the Dubai Fountains, with the Burj Khalifa looming just meters away, it offers one of the best vistas in the city, and makes a great space for sundowners and dinner parties at dusk. As well as the á la carte menu and the blackboard specials, the restaurant also offers ‘The Rivi Lunch Hour’ which is a new take on the common ‘business lunch’, where a 2 course lunch will be all done and dusted within an hour for just 100 AED.

Some friends were over for a stay and on the off chance with no booking early evening, the lady greeter, with no trouble found us a superb table overlooking the Dubai Mall fountains. Pricy, but with a quality that is hard to beat even in Michelin restaurants.

I recently had the chance to return to Rivington in Madinat with a few colleagues. They all enjoyed their courses (salads and mains). They all had either fish or seafood and considered it good. I had the 'meat and potatoes' entree, in which the roast beef was fantastic! The Yorkshire Pudding on the other hand was below average with a tinge of burnt. The side gravy and veg was also just average. I do recommend the salad I had as a starter, an heirloom tomoto salad with pickled shallots - very good indeed!

Service was average.

I went there with a business partner on the recommendation of a friend. I was disappointed with the overall atmosphere as I found the place to be noisy and tables lack privacy as they are too close to each other. I also found the menu to be fairly limited.
But the quality of the food and the excellent service more than make up for the negative points.
I ordered the heritage tomato salad, ribeye steak and the berry cobbler for desert. My colleague had the seared scallops, lamb shank and the apple and raspberry crumble.
We were both delighted with food, I was very impressed with berry cobbler, absolutely divine served warm with clotted cream.
The overall experience gets a higher mark simply because the food and service were great.

We had a business dinner and the general view was the food was good and the setting, overlooking the Burj Khalifa Fountains was excellent. The Beef Wellington that I shared was cooked beautifully and the mint ice-cream desert is perfect. Always worth a visit. Wine list is not that good though.

Had a great meal here just a few days ago. The best location for a view of the fountain show at the Burj Tower! However, this comes at a hot cost. As we should have expected and were warned about by the lovely lady who greets you. Eating out side in August in the UAE is gonna make you sweat but this was worth the fantastic views.

Every part of our meal was delicious and the service staff were wonderful. There was a great buzz indoors and I would thoroughly recommend you have a meal here.

Also great to see Welsh water (Llanllyr) on tap!!

The only reservation is the cost. A bottle of red, couple of beers, water and a steak dinner each (no starters or puds) £170 !! There is better value else where but no better for view of Burj fountain show.
