“Usually on business this time on holiday”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

I usually stay on business in the IBG 4-5 times a year, but this time was accompanied by my wife (first visit to Dubai), and joined by one of our sons stopping over on route back from Perth WA. We stayed on our company's very generous corporate rate all inclusive of breakfast / wi-fi and all taxes in a superior room which was ample big enough for the 3 of us.

As many other reviewers have said, the staff are very good, friendly, curtious & helpful - from reception throughout and up to the pool staff. Our room on F7 was meticulously cleaned every day at whatever time was required (use the red / green buttons) and when we arrived and asked for enough towels / hangars / water for three persons, this was delivered up quickly.

We used both the Indian & Chinese restaurants in the hotel and found them both excellent and satisfying, particularly the Indian - Chor Bazaar - the food was wonderful & memorable. Agree that breakfast on the first few days was a bit of a scrum being Eid-time, particularly towards the end of the session around 10pm, but to ease matters we were escorted to the F9 Exec Club and catered for there.....no hassle.

We used the beach club on the Palm most days and agree that bus seats were at a premium some days but we managed just fine and had a good time down there. Again, staff / service pretty good. Didn't use W14th restaurant while there but have used previously when on business and it is excellent.

When leaving, we used hotel transport back to DXB airport aed255 for 3 with big luggage in a very clean & tidy exec minibus was in my view good value and beat the hassle of squuezing into a taxi.

Overall a good stay and despite the out of town / Jebel Ali-end location, you can be @ the Marina / JBR area or downtown areas very quickly & very cheaply in a few minutes by taxi or metro along Sheik Z road

We arrived in Dubai for a 5 night stay. We were greeted by friendly efficient staff who briefed us on the details of our all inclusive package. Our rooms were lovely. We had two rooms, a suite and a delux. There were no issues with the delux apart from the view of the power station. The suite had issues with the air conditioning not working in the living space of the suite. It was reported but nothing was done about it. There also was an issue with the safe which was also reported but again nothing was done about it.

We were there for Eid so it was busy and this was particularly evident at breakfast. We were in the breakfast restaurant before 9am each morning but we could see a queue forming after 9 and the Indian restaurant had to be used. The problem wasn't enough space in the restaurant but was a lack of floor staff. However the choice and presentation was amazing. You could certainly breakfast like a king.Dinner was incredible also and the dessert choice was just to die for. The italian was also superb but the lobster was not available on any night that we were there. The indian was out of this world and the service was exceptional.

The pool was lovely but due to its location did not have the sun all day long. There were only a few loungers so had to get there early to get one. We tried to book the shuttle to the oceana but it was completely booked up and had to get a taxi ourselves. This was one of the main reasons we choose the hotel and it was just not good enough to advertise it as a service when its more like a "maybe". There was no suggestion to cover the cost of a taxi for us or for the other guests that were disappointed. The oceana was was superb.

The staff at the concierge desk were particularly unhelpful. We approached them for advice on tours, for booking taxis and for trying to book the shuttle to the oceana and overall the experience was pretty poor and sometimes rude.

Would I recommend this hotel? Yes. But the location should be considered. It is a considerable distance from the city but is well located for the palm and the jumeriah beach. The fact that the hotel is right beside the metro and that taxis are so cheap means the location is not a major issue.
One other tip is ask for metered taxis as there was a conscious effort by the taxi staff to get us to take set price vehicles for the destination and the difference in price was considerable.

Room Tip: maybe ask for a city view as the other option is a view of the power station

Just returned from our second visit to this hotel and it was, if anything, even better than our first. The hotel is just excellent in every regard. Rooms are spacious with tall ceilings and very good amenities. The pool is cool and refreshing on a hot day. And the Oceana Beach Resort on the Palm is a wonderful place to while away a few hours while looking at the Dubai Marina across the water. Food is of a high standard. Would recommend the Chinese restaurant.

But the main thing that sets the hotel apart is the standard of service. All of the staff went out of their way to make us welcome and our visit a success. Housekeeping was amongst the best I have ever encountered. Smiles and warm welcomes were the order of the day.

Last review we commented on the difficulty in understanding the all-inclusive system. They now have that nailed. Guest Services met us to explain the paackage and gave us a printed list of what was included. Perfect.

We went during the Holiday Eid and that meant the hotel was full which did put the restaurants under stress, especially at breakfast. But the Front of House Manager dealt with it calmly and professionally and at most we waited 10 minutes for a table. No big deal.

This is a business hotel so you get less of the "bucket and spade" approach of some others in Dubai, which we like. But with the link to the Oceana Beach you get the best of both worlds. Views from the rooms are not great (bus station, powerlines etc.) but we spent very little time in the room so it wasn't a problem.

All in all, a great hotel, convenient for Central Dubai, right next to a fantastic shopping mall and the Metro, which offers a refined business experience with added beach appeal!

Room Tip: All rooms are good but if you can upgrade to an Executive Room you get to use the small lounge on th...

We stayed here for 5 nights on their All Inclusive package. Prior to arrival I had emailed the hotel to request early check in and upon arrival to the hotel we were promptly checked in, given our orientation and taken to our room. Although you can access your room, the All Inclusive doesn't start until 3pm.

Room
We stayed in a Superior room, it was pleasant. Very large and comfortable bed, we liked the bathroom with the large glass screen. We didn't use the minibar due to the prices, but it was well stocked. In room safe, iron and ironing board provided.
The maid service was not great. There were a few times when we spent the morning by the rooftop pool, came back to the room to changed, and the maid wanted to clean our room. We explained that we would only be 10 minutes and asked if they could come back, and were told no. So there were a couple of days when our room wasn't made up, which isn't the end of the world but I expected a better service.
View from the window was hideous, overlooks a power station. Ask for a Mall View room if possible, but we didn't spend much time looking out the window so again, not the end of the world.

Pool/Beach
We spent a few mornings/afternoons at the rooftop pool. We never struggled to get a bed, only half the pool is in the sun at any point during the day so if you get a 'sunny' bed in the morning, it'll be shaded by lunchtime and vice versa. There was the problem of people saving beds for use later in the day, but a very proactive Lifeguard kept a close eye and did remove towels on those beds with no occupants! The waiter service at the pool and food at the Olive Tree were very good.
We visited the The Oceana Beach Club once, very spacious, infinity pool, lazy river, and the beach. If you are all inclusive just show your card and snacks and drinks are included. We had booked a space on the bus from the Hotel, and as the crowd gathered at the front door it was obvious there was not going to be enough seats and it was a free for all! We hung back, not wanting to join the crush, and were left with another couple not being able to fit on the bus. The hotel arranged a taxi for us, with no charge, to the beach which was nicer and we got the chance to chat! Jellyfish at the beach, but there's so much choice it didn't bother us. The infinity pool and lazy river are brilliant!

Location
The hotel is out of the way, but as other reviews state, the Metro is a short walk away and Taxis are abundant! There were a few times when the hotel told us there were no taxis available and we would need to take their Limo service (mainly Lexus driven by hotel staff), but a previous taxi driver had told us many hotels try to push their service first. We did use the Limo a few times as we went out for my Birthday, but don't feel pressured to because they are more expensive, tell them you want a normal taxi and one will miraculously appear!
The Ibn Battuta Mall is directly across the road. For those who are not All Inclusive I notice a McDonalds, Subway and Pizza Hut down the road, as well as the food hall in the Mall.

Food
Breakfast is a bit of a farce! The majority of the tables are quite far away from the food, it's very busy and the tables are not cleared fast enough. There were a couple of times where staff sat us down on an occupied table, or we came back from getting food to find they had put somebody onto ours! Very disorganised! Breakfast food ok, the omelette station was good and the fruit selection nice.
The restaurants were truly excellent. We didn't eat at the buffet one during our stay, but the rest were lovely. Our favourite was Chor Bazaar (Indian), the staff were very friendly and it was a pleasure to sit and watch the Tandoori chefs at work. The food at the Italian restaurant was very good, service sometimes a little slow (we ordered drinks and had to remind staff twice before we got them).
Couldn't complain about the food at lunch or dinner at all. Very glad we went all inclusive as when you are presented with a bill at the end - which you just sign with your room number - we realised we would have spent a small fortune! The Lobster and steak were beautiful!

Bar
The outside bar had a lovely view overlooking the Battta Gate, obviously very warm compared to the air conditioned hotel. Cocktail list was lovely (I tried the majority of them!) and the staff were very friendly, suggesting drinks and cocktails for us to try. You can order Shisha and sit and drink the evening away. There is a small BBQ area here and you can order nibbles to enjoy too. It is obvious non-guests come to the hotel to enjoy the restaurants and the bar so that's a good sign! It appeared they were building a new sports bar off the main lobby area.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the hotel. There were aspects of it that we're not 5* - occasionally the service let them down. It seemed that they didn't have enough space or facilities for all guests and this was especially evident at breakfast, the rooftop pool and with the bus to the beach. You should not feel you are having to compromise at a 5* hotel, and at times we did. We were by far the youngest couple at the hotel and I sometimes felt we received a 'less attentive' service than some other guests. The hotel was a mixture of holiday makers and business people. We will definitely be returning to Dubai and wouldn't hesitate to book this hotel again, but would probably look around a little more before booking.

Thanks Movenpick!

Stayed here in August for a week with my 20yr old daughter and it was an amazing experience.

Our trip started with a couple of minor issues, my tour operator had not passed on travel details to the hotel so they could arrange our pick-up from the airport and they also hadn't passed on our requirement for a twin room instead of a double. However, both issues were quickly sorted out by the hotel staff.

The hotel itself was spotlessly clean and the room was a good size. The all inclusive option we were on was excellent value for money, especially considering the food on offer is top restaurant quality, including fresh lobster! There is a choice of resturants including Chinese, Indian and Italian, all of which we found faultless. There is a limited selection of drinks on the AI option but it included known brands and was more than sufficient for us.

Of the things you must definitely do if you are here , one of them is the Friday Brunch, also included in the AI package and you will be gutted if you miss it and then hear others talking about it (N.B. you need to book in for this at reception to ensure you can get a table). Basically, Friday Brunch is a big deal across Dubai and a lot of people come out to the big hotels and restaurants to enjoy it, tons of great food, drink and entertainment all through the hotel, a truly wonderful experience. A lot of those there had dressed up for the occasion as well.

The hotel has a rooftop swimming pool which is great and was really quiet when we were there (understandable I suppose in 50 degrees heat!!) but the other thing you absolutely MUST do is jump on the free shuttle bus (book on to this with the concierge) to go to the private beach club on the Palm. We spent virtually every day down there because we loved it so much. If you're AI then the bar food and drinks at the club are included (you will pay though if you use the attached restaurant) and again, the food is great quality. It was bliss laying in the infinity pool looking across to central Dubai with a glass of Cava in hand. We met some fantastic people there as well, most of whom were residents living in the apartments surrounding the beach club.

In a moment of madness, having met up with two couples in the hotel we also tried out the nightclub next door where in order to get a table we paid £300 for a bottle of JD! Slightly excessive but we had a good night regardless.

I have been to Dubai before and done a lot of the touristy trips so we didn't plan to do much apart from relax around the pools, however, we did take time out to go to Ski Dubai as my daughter wanted to try it out and we also jumped on the metro (which is a five minute walk from the hotel) to go see the Burj Khalifa and take the tour to "At The Top", an awesome experience but make sure you pre-book to get a time you want. If you do go to the Burj Khalifa, also make sure you hang around for the dancing fountains show in the evening.

We did venture out to others bars (and also a private bbq) while we were there and all I'll say is that it appeared perfectly safe to do so as long as you knew where you were going as there are always plenty of cabs to get you from AtoB.

I've probably missed loads out (it was a packed 7 days!!) but in summary, an excellent hotel with fantastic staff, great food and an awesome beach club. If you are taking young kids then you're probably better off going to Jumeirah Beach but for those of us a little older travelling for business or pleasure, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel and I'm looking forward to returning next year to chill out for another week.

Positioned on the outer edge of Dubai & adjacent a kind of theme mall, its a weird looking hotel. The service was relatively good, the food above average (except for the excellent Indian Restaurant). The health club is very good & extremely well equipped. Generally its an OK place to stay, but quite far from the centre of Dubai (although the skytrain stops close by). Long ride from the airport and semi-industrial surroundings kind of detract from the experience though.

Myself and two friends are just back from an amazing trip to Dubai and this hotel is one of the main reasons with loved it so much!
The location of the hotel is in south Dubai about 5 mins drive from Dubai Marina. The Ibn Battuta Mall is right across the road and you can catch the metro which will take you all the way up to downtown and the old city center.
The hotel is impressive from the second you drive up to it. All the staff who greet you and the front desk staff are so welcoming and bend over backwards to help.
We stayed in a superior twin room, the beds were so comfortable! The bathroom was great, with a rain shower-head and a full size bath. A robe and slippers were also provided, as was plenty of storage, a little seating area and a desk with an internet connection.
The hotel has a lot of restaurants and we tried a few, the food in all of them was good and reasonably priced. Moroc bar has a great outdoor terrace with drink promos on tuesday and saturday nights.
The pool area is lovely with a spectacular view of high rises in the distance. There are only a handful of loungers so you need to get there early. There is a lifeguard on duty at all times however be aware that the pool doesn't get the sun all day. We went to the beach club which is free for all guests and there is also a free shuttle service, you just need to book on to reserve a spot. The infinity pool is to die for!
Overall we loved this hotel, we found the services fantastic and the staff wonderful and I'd have no hesitation in recommending this to leisure seekers, people on business, families and couples.
Thanks Ibn Battuta Gate for giving us a memorable trip!!
