Owner description: Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo is one of the most captivating attractions in Dubai. Located at The Dubai Mall, the largest mall in the world, offering a memorable journey into ocean life. With capacity to hold 10 million litres of water, Dubai Aquarium is one of the largest indoor aquariums in the world and it illuminates the marvels of the ocean floor, showcasing one of the most diverse collections of aquatic life. Located just above the aquarium, Underwater Zoo brings visitors up close with penguins, piranhas, crabs, water rats, sea horses, jellyfish and plenty more. A fascinating new addition at Underwater Zoo is King Croc, regarded as nature's rare phenomenon and one of the world's largest reptiles - at over 5 meters long and weighing an imposing 750 kg plus. Underwater Zoo regularly hosts innovative exhibits. One such exhibit, 'UAE's Night Creatures' presents the experience of nightfall in the desert as creatures of the dark.

1st - you don't really have to pay to see everything there is to see, just standing a few meters away.. 2nd - just a few tanks, impressive for a mall, but not impressive if you compare it with a proper aquarium (incomparable to aquariums in Japan, Genova, Monterrey, Monaco and many others in my view).. Tanks are rather poorly decorated - lacks vegetation and colours, makes you feel sorry for the fish to be stuffed in this uncozy space.. Do see it if you're passing by, but don't go specially to see it..

I could unfortunately not give this aquarium a fantastic review, as I feel I have been to better aquariums for the same price.
The best thing about it is the location, in the Dubai mall, it's rather convenient for attracting tourists.
It's not bad neither fantastic, if you've been to aquariums before there isn't anything new or better to see here, I 'm afraid I won't be visiting it again.

Tip 1: The entrance fee cost about 80 dirhams (roughly 14-15 british pound). The ticket comes with a 10% discount to spend in the gift shop.

Tip 2: Since you are paying so much to get into the aquarium, i would suggest you to take as many photos as possible with stingray. There is one thing that you can do in the underwater aqarium is to be upclose and personal with the stingrays and sharks. They are not that visible when you view the tank from outside.

Tip 3: You ticket also allow you to go into the creepy crawley sections where you can see crocodile, aligator, lizards, beetles and etc. I didn't find them amusing but if you are travelling with your family, it is worth bringing your kids there. Definitely very educational!

Tip 4: Yes, camera are allowed in this premise.

Tip 5: I personally will not visit here again because once is mroe than enough to see everything.

It was interesting to visit this aquarium in the mall. I got the full package for around 110 AED which included the zoo and the glass bottomed boat ride, as well as a 20 AED credit at the gift shop. The aquarium was nice--it's a tunnel that you walk through. I wish the tunnel had been longer--it seemed that I had walked through it in no time. There are HUGE rays and about 70 sharks. The aquarium boats the record for the world's largest single pane of acrylic glass. To ride the glass bottomed boat, you need to go up to the next level, and then to the next level again for the underwater zoo. The animals there are not ultra-exotic, but then again, we have pet tarantulas, snakes and lizards at our house, so I'm not awed by seeing more of them--they are common place for me/my family. Still, though, it's a great opportunity for people to see all sorts of animals, mainly aquatic, and it's a great activity for kids.

Great facility in the middle of the desert. However if you have seen similar aquariums in hong kong or Singapore this might be a bit of a let down. However it is certainly worth visiting.
