“Well an Ibis is an Ibis!”

There are more plus points than minus points....

Good central location, felt initially a little bit like arriving in a ghetto, I am being a little unfair I think but soon settled in and the area is absolutely fine. Al Rigga Metro station is 150 metres away and taxis are easy to hail on the road too.

Some quality restaurants along Al Rigga road where you can eat good quality local food for very little, a good meal for 2 people around 100 AED.

The hotel is perfectly clean, modern, free wifi in the lobby area although it did seem slow probably because of the amount of people using it and using video Skype at the same time. Air con works great, I did wish there was a fridge in the room, I realise this is an Ibis but it was hot, and keeping things chilled is more of a necessity rather than a luxury but I did read in the reviews that Fridges are planned for later in 2012. The staff were great too, very friendly and willing to help.

Minus points, I was a little taken aback by a 'lady of the night' who decided to have a chat with me in the hotel bar, what alarmed me even more is that she knew all the staff and shook hands with the barman upon arrival so they clearly know what she is doing. Although she was perfectly pleasant and when I said she was wasting her time with me, she moved on quickly enough.
The towels in usual Ibis standards are like sandpaper, but that is a criticism of Ibis generally.

Breakfast is basic and the coffee was appalling with an intermittent coffee machine, if the machine didn't work, it seemed to be accepted by the staff rather then fixed. Late breakfast was good though, after 10:30 until 12 so if you do sleep in, it isn't a problem to get something.

In summary, it is what is it, and it does it very well, would I recommend Al Rigga Ibis? Yes because it is simple with no frills.

The best public beach close to the hotel is Al Mamza beach park and is a 20/22 AED taxi ride away or you can walk to Union station around 8-10 minutes and catch a direct bus.

The location is the prime key to this hotel. Near two shopping centers, various places to eat, and the metro station. You cant really beat the location of this place vs the price. The hotel itself is nice but basic. Advertising itself as a two star its just that. The room isn't anything special but it is clean and nicely decorated, and for the price a good choice. The breakfast is not the best since the selection is very limited and over priced for the selection. Internet is free in the lobby but slow and the internet in the rooms is expensive and slower than it should be. The bathroom is very small but its just a bathroom after all. Overall this place is very good. The location and price really make up for the short comings. Especially if your here during a holiday like Eid the price is a life saver and well worth the money.

+ cheap and close to airport, yet in the city itself (Al Rigga area), a few banks, ATMs, restaurants and cafes literally steps from the hotel

- very basic rooms even for Ibis, especially the bathroom, which is smaller and older than usual (stayed at Ibis in Russia, Italy)
- check-in was quick, but for some reason they refused to call the taxi, instead telling me to go outside and find one myself

Skipped the breakfast, so cannot rate it.
One final advice on transit in Dubai. If you need an overnight stop and need to pay for visa, consider staying at Dubai Airport hotel in T3. Costs more, but you save time and money on visa and taxi.

We were pleased to read that our price and location were at your satisfaction. However, on the other hand, we were sorry to read your disappointment concerning the rooms which you found basic and bathrooms which looked older than other Ibis.

For your information this hotel is only two years old and has the same equipments as all the Ibis hotels world wide. Regarding the incident with the receptionist and after investigation, the receptionist informed us that he suggested you, as he could not leave the reception to go outside to get you a taxi since other clients were at the reception, to get one from outside as this area is a high pick up area for taxis.

We truly apologize for this misunderstanding. Our receptionist did not mean at anytime to unpleased you. In Ibis hotels, guest satisfaction is our priority and we always try to ensure that our commitment to guest satisfaction is reached.

I hope that you will give us the opportunity in welcoming you again at Ibis Al Rigga in order to make you live ACCOR hospitality.

This hotel is situated within 150 meters from AL rigga metro station. The location is ideal.....got loads of restaurants close by. Al ghurair mall is around 300 meters away.
The main advantage of this hotel is the price and quality of room(though its small its neat).
Disadvantages are: No bell boys....i had to carry 3 bags and 2 hand bags all by myself as i was travelling with my wife and 2 yr old son. No one from the staff will even help.
Also i reached there at 8.15 in the morning....check-in time is 2 pm.....so i wasnt given a room they said earliest is 10 am....i have never ever faced this problem at any other hotel ever.

The rooms n bathrooms are small by dubai standard.

Also when i checked in the engineering staff had forgotten their stuff in the room....paint boxes ...ladders etc etc.

However, we were disappointed to notice that you had some inconveniences. We are truly apologize to learn that reception was unable to give you a room earlier than 10:00 am as the hotel was fully booked that day even if check-in time is at 2:00 p.m. Ibis Hotels do not have bell boys but you have at the entrance of the hotel luggage trolleys at your disposal to help you.

Your comments regarding the engineering staff have also been noted. This has been addressed to the concerned head of department who has already taken appropriate actions to prevent such inconvenience to happen again in the future.

We hope that these issues will not discourage you to visit us again at Ibis Al Rigga.

Have stopped in Ibis all over and this the worst by far

They have a bar there (the cube bar) and its full of hookers who pay staff to gain access to it.

No Internet access from your room unless you pay 25 dh per hour - so you go downstairs where it's free to work and they pester you every 3 mins to buy a drink because you cannot sit there unless you do.

The price is cheap, the breakfast a rip off and the service mill

Ibis - you should hang your heads in shame with this hotel - or is it usual for a hotel in your group to charge by the hour

There are so many hotels in Dubai it is hard to make a choice.
I have used this IBIS hotel many times ever since it opened some 3 years ago and have been impressed by the convenience of its location which is only a few metres from Al Rigga Metro Station which connects in just 3 stops to the International Airport Terminal 1.
It has impressed me too by the genuine friendliness and high levels of service on offer. There is no pool but the beach is not far away, it has a modern gym, an all-day coffee shop and a quirt well stocked bar which is open from 12 noon until early morning: a female singer entertains 2 nights a week which is always popular.
Yes, you might say its just another IBIS, but for value for money and good service its hard to beat

Room Tip: Ask for a non smoking room on 6th floor adjacent to the gym
