“Mexican? One of there worst meals in a long time”
Reviewed December 9, 2011

We were walking and saw the mexican board and decided to try it.
It was terrible.
The burritos had thin slices of beef as opposed to Mince Beef.
Nachos were stale and instead of Jalapeños they used green sweet peppers, it was weird.
Chicken Drumsticks were tasteless.
Food came slow, and we mentioned it to the waiter and they tried their best to improve on the speed, but being understaffed they could not improve much.
The cook needs to try and join a Mexican Food Course. Seriously.
We left half the food and left asap.
Dont know what to suggest to improve it, as I think there is little hope.

We visited this for an Iftar Buffet. Iftar= Muslim end of the daily fast meal.. We had already bought discount vouchers from one of the many site's available now. The offer stated the voucher worth was 210 Dirham approx £40 PP, dicounted to 59 Dirham approx £12, so we were expecting a substantial affair. This was inaccurate as the TRUE price was 85 Dirham approx £17! The buffet was fairly meagre by Dubai standards and for a "Mexican" strange that the signiture Mexican dish, Chilli Con Carne did not feature although Spagetti Bolignese did?
It was at best AVERAGE. Certainly not 210 Dirhams worth, not sure i would have been happy to pay 85 AED either. The food was OK though the place lacked "atmosphere". A little subdued Mexican style music would have helped. The desert table was particulary poor. Just a fresh fruit selection, jelly, creme brulee style dish and some small pastry balls and the fruit dish was cleared by hungry diners as soon as it was put out. The remainder of the dishes were barely warm. Very Dissapointing.

“For the price paid, you have better choices around the city”
Reviewed May 28, 2011

To start with, the view is good and so is the location. Overlooking the marina with all the boats anchored and the towering buildings just opposite, it is a sight you can sit and enjoy - especially with the traditional shisha in hand.

Secondly, they have weekly offers (kids eat free Saturdays on ordering a main course; ladies have 50% off their main course bill - no exceptions etc.). Service was very good and the staff extremely friendly. Those are the positives.

May - Aug is usually hot and stuffy in the UAE, which is why we decided to dine indoors. It was more humid indoors than outdoors. The overall temperature was a little uncomfortable, and as an afterthought, it would have been better to dine outside that particular night.

The quality of the food was good, but not great. I had ordered the enchiladas, and I have definitely tasted better ones in other restaurants (On The Borders to name one - located at Dubai festival City). Serving size was very reasonable, and some of the dishes could have been shared by two.

What turned us off was the fact that the average price of the dishes and the drinks were too high. For the price we had paid, we could have definitely enjoyed a better meal at a more well established restaurant in the city. In fact, the Jumeirah Beach Hotel houses an excellent Tex-Mex restaurant called Go West, which would have served us better food and drinks for the same price, and Jumeirah Beach Hotel is rated as 5 star.

Overall, it was an experience that was average, and an experience I would definitely like to avoid in the future.
