“Desert Grandstand!”
Reviewed July 4, 2012

After the convoluted circuitous entry and exit (designed probably to organise the crowds during races!) the Hotel itself was quite an oasis of luxury. A sort of capsule design, with all rooms having virtual grandstand like views of the racecourse - lovely even without any race on!
Excellent, helpful and courteous staff. Rooms are large with all possible amenities in addition to the usual desk and office facilities, separate luggage room, a lovely espresso machine with unlimited Italian coffee supplies, aromatherapy lamp, sunken bath with large LCD TV attached and option of fantastic views by opening the blinds to the room! Toilets also probably the most exclusive with the only time I have seen -a drier for your backside!
Facilities at the hotel itself was a sumptuous breakfast with freshly made juices and live counters; an infinity pool at the roof (albeit small!), a lovely coffee shop with all eating units having the option of dining alfresco - overlooking the course! Lovely conference facilities in the convention facility close by, with golfcart buggies to take you there!
Only downside (not sure that is actually one though!) was the distance from the downtown area, although the access to the airport was actually faster because of this!
Highly recomended especially if you can get a good deal!

Room Tip: All rooms have a fab view - choose a higher floor if possible!

Mid february is valentines day for everyone, but is engagement anniversary for us. I decided to surprise my husband by booking a nice room after mentioning it was a special occassion. Best thing is the room is all yours for 24 hrs regardless the check-in time. This was very practical. We entered the room to find fresh rose petals scattered romatically all over the white and brown colored bed linen, tv counter, desk, and even in the jacuZzi tub. 2 hand made towel swans were on our bed very nicely and professionally done. A fruit basket and a horse shoe shaped cake topped with exotic fruit was our additional gift from the hotel. The jacuzzi tub had a tv screen where u can relax and watch tv at the same time. Our stay was simply amazing with the view of the green race track. Room was pleasant and warm except for some spots that was ageing and obviously needed to be painted. We had dinner at a steak restaurant that evening, good steak but very very over priced in my opinion. Food portions are very small for the price we are paying. Very nice stay and breakfast was very yummy too. For tourists, its close to burj khalifa and dubai mall but not sure how much it costs by a taxi or if the are free shuttle buses that will take u there.

We stayed here one night on a Thursday (Thats "fake Friday" here in Dubai)

We only checking in at 7pm after work and only had to check out at 7pm the next day as the room is your for 24hours so no late check out is required. (hotel wasn't super busy, this might not be what's done during the busier seasons)

Rooms are HUGE, really nice and modern. (even have a automatic "washing" toilet and curtains)The rooms are really well laid out and the views are pretty good too.

4 bottles of water are provided complimentary in the rooms. (more can be requested at any time, as many people don't drink the tap water here in Dubai)

Each room has its own coffee machine (My husband loved this) sadly the room only had one cup/saucer. (house keeping needs to step it up as a few items were singular where they should have been two)

Our room had a bath big enough for 2, with a TV built into the wall. A great way to relax after the pool. Shower is a multi sprayer shower (rain shower head, normal nozzle and wall nozzles too) it also has a seat in the shower which is great.

Bathroom amenities aka shampoo and conditioner, etc are too small and don't really fit with the rest of the hotel. expected more luxury items.

I spent the day at the roof top pool (11 floor) while my husband played at the 9 hole golf course then at CUDE a sports bar. The Pool is really stunning. (gets a bit hot in summer) - There is a kiddies pool too in a separate area :)

Hotel also has an IMAX theatre, Falcon centre and shooting range.

Room service is fast and the burgers are amazing.
Check out is fast and efficient.

Staff are really friendly and helpful.

Beware that Meydan is more Arabic than Western, seemed popular with the locals.

Room Tip: Try to get breakfast as part of your package as its not worth the 150 AED p/p you will have to pay...

Stayed there just for a night at the weekend, it's an incredible building which is worth a visit in itself, the pool is great (infinity pool on the roof of the grandstand) and the service is excellent. I stayed on a summer special offer so can't comment too much on price, but it's very variable depending on when racing is on, so if you want to stay at a better rate then hold out for the summer. Good choice of restaurants as well, and the breakfast is also highly recommended. They get an additional plus point for including complementary wifi, which some hotels still don't do (even at this price). The rooms almost all overlook the race course and ours was spacious and well appointed, bathroom had a huge bath with a window so you could see into the main bedroom, which was unusual!

Stunning views of the track from your room. Perfect for an outing. Book a high floor on the left side, close to the royal enclosure. We found that there was no room service and no space in any of the restaurants left for guests during the races. Rest is as to be expected UAE opulent style.

The Meydan is one of the best places to relax in a luxurious way… Just staying there with its great view on the horse track is a pleasure relaxing experience… I highly recommend this hotel as a place to relax and to be away from the stress…

I was picked up at the airport in a Range Rover; the journey took fifteen to twenty minutes in quiet traffic. The hotel is situated beside the brand new racetrack and each one of the 290 bedrooms looks over the track.
The bedroom is tastefully panelled in light wood and has all the amenities you would expect of a five star hotel in the Middle East. Some nice touches include the master light switch beside the bed that turns off all the lights in the room, the multi-channel TV, the TV in the (marble clad and lovely) bathroom and finally the wardrobe that opens not only into the bedroom but also the bathroom. Nice design touch.
The lobby is spectacular. A glass wall is supported from gold coloured beams that sweep up eleven storeys and support the atrium roof. Within this space there are banks of glass-walled lifts, public areas to relax in and bars and restaurants.
The food was good in Farriers, the main restaurant. Service on a quiet night was almost too good; sometimes it is nice to be left in peace! Staff were professional and friendly though.
Slightly disappointed in the Asian restaurant. I had the lamb biryani and there was a bit too much rice and not enough lamb for my liking. Also, the inedible flavourings had been left in the dish and you had to fight your way through them. Attentive service though and the open kitchen is interesting.
Lovely buffet spread for breakfast.
All in all, a spectacular hotel that needs nothing in itself - just some interesting things to walk to and enjoy! It is a bit remote at the moment and though there are plans for a "Meydan City" type of development, they are obviously on hold for the time being. That said, the Mall of the Emirates, for example, is only a ten-minute taxi ride away.
