We visited Maya 18 months ago and had a fabulous meal, the food was inventive tasty and fresh.
What a disappointment when we returned this week to celebrate a family birthday.the food served was no better than a Mexican el Chico chain or similar. I ordered chicken tacos which tasted bland ,wrapped in a stodgy thick taco just awful. A burrito arrived covered in a brown gloopy gravy, clumsily put together again awful. This place is not cheap, sixty to seventy dollars for a main course so we expected better. After some feedback the head waiter admitted the chef was on vacation and the kitchen was being run by the sous chef.
No complaints on the service and the head waiter handled us well, also the ambiance and decor is great, but at the end of the day restaurants are about great food and if you want that then give this place a miss.
