Visited Karama as a single female on my own and felt safe enough. It was a Saturday morning, very quiet and I really didn't get too hassled, nothing as bad as Patpong market or the likes. A lot of junk and the same stuff in all stores. But I took a the advise of some previous reviews and went to Links. They only seemed to have Mulberry but the best quality and no nonsense negotiations. I bought a lovely bag and purse for DHS 700 for both. If you are pushed for time, I really wouldn't panic about missing anything there.

Visited karama twice last week.went 2 years ago and prices have risen quite a bit since then.
Links is the shop to go to he will take you to the secret apartment and it is like aladins cave'you name it,he's got it,there was about 12 people in there shopping and we all spent £200 plus.I got 4 really good quality watches, hubby got 2.
Karama is definitely worth a visit but you really do need to haggle hard otherwise you will get ripped off.

A lot of people writing on here about how dodgy it is and dangerous, we found the people very generous and kind...yeah they hassle you...like they do in turkey and egypt, but there not rude and take no as a NO

we went into a shop called "karama flowers" as recommend by someone at our hotel and spoke to "sid"

he looked after us, sorted us out with shoes, belts, watches , bags etc at brilliant prices! he offered to by us some food and walked us to a taxi, very lovely bloke!

i can understand why people say its a eye opener, they do take you upstairs, in secret doors, and bolt you in, where you would never be found lol but its for there security

great place, we was in and out within a hour with all our bits, spent about £250 on 2 watches, shoes belt and bag

job done! would go again and straight to sid :-)

Went to karama on a few occasions. First time got taken by someone straight from the metro to a couple of shops. Were wanting £50 a bag, not good quality though. Went to a place called links, very good quality bags but wouldn't go less than £120! We ended up buying a breitling, patek phillipe and Christian Dior watch for £190. Can't fault the men's watches except for a tiny mark on the "gold" patek. Dior watch currently has a broken clasp which is very difficult to repair so beware and check things carefully!

There are some bargains to be had but its just your typical market place. Nothing traditional about it and the usual constant chorus of "You want bags? Sunglasses? Watches?" If you want any of these then your in the right place. If not stick to the Malls
