Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights in July 2013 on the executive floor. Airport transfers, internet and breakfast included for approx SGD 300++.
Arrived at the airport close to midnight but the transfer representative was missing. Worst horror in a foreign land. A call to the hotel and then the representative meets me 5 mins later, makes me wait for another 5 minutes till another person arrives who leads to me the car park and introduces me to the third person who takes me to the car. Finally!!
Check in around 1am is smooth, effiecient and friendly. The room is very average, right sized for 1 person with a balcony facing the sea, fruit basket, wireless internet and a good sized bath.
Next morning I am told I can go to the breakfast either in the lounge or the main cafe. Its 6.30am so choose the main cafe. I am shown to a table by the window, breakfast is cold, breads are not fresh. I am told since its Ramadan, meals are cooked at 4am for Muslim guests. My question is how about a guest wanting to eat breakfast at 9am? If at 6.30 my breakfast is cold and seems like it was cooked yesterday. I want a coffee and there is no one around. The only staff I see is the one at the cafe door and 2 others at the egg station. However, next day when I went for breakfast at 8am, I saw there were coffee servers and plenty of staff but the breakfast was still cold(er) and the breads stale.
The room was always well serviced and clean but lack character. The satellite channels are adequate especially with a good selection of business tv channels. There is a construction site directly outside of my room (I was on floor 12 facing the beach) and the work starts early morning until late night. Fortunately, since this was a business trip I was out most of the time. However, someone wanting peace - dont stay here.
The bath is big for the room size with a seprate frosted glass shower cubicle and a longbath. Strangely the person who designed the bath left two flaws for the shower cubicle - there is no light in the cubicle and with frosted glass it gets dark in there (see the pics). The other flaw of the shower area is that water seeps out all over the bathroom as there is nothing to stop the flow from the cubicle.
The lobby is mostly feels like a waiting lounge at the airport with a ice cream cart and lots of people always hanging around waiting - including at the shop near the elevator. Oh ! and the elevator has no security such as restricted card access to the room.
The only aspect of this hotel that stood out for its fantastic service are the doormen / bellboys who really welcome you to the hotel and also go out of the way to hail a cab. Well done guys - you deserve a pat!
