“Out of the way but very well priced.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2013

We stayed here for 5 days thinking that it was going to be next to the main attractions but you need to get a taxi to everywhere as its quite out the way. In fact most taxis we got in at the end of the night couldn't take us as they didn't know where it was!! We had to tell them the name of a big hotel nearby!

Upon arriving we were checked in quickly and taken to our room. The rooms are fine and were clean, with a nice bathroom with separate shower and bath. One thing I did not like was the smell of smoke - it seemed that a lot of people were smoking in their rooms and the smell finds its way into your room. Also the views from the room were non existent.

There is a small sunbathing area at the top of the hotel with a little pool and gym. They are okay although it was difficult to get a seat as it was quite often full.

We didnt eat in the hotel and really only spent very short amount of time in the hotel as there is so much to see and do.

We booked the hotel initially as the price was about £500 each less than staying at a nice hotel on the beach and although it was annoying being out the way taxis are at least 3 times cheaper than in the UK and we had more spending money.

Overall you get what you pay for and this hotel is distinctively average.

Dear Guest,
Greetings from Mercure Gold, Dubai - !!

We are thankful to you for having taken out time to put your review. We value our guest feedback and that helps us in improving on the missing components.

Indeed our hotel is just renamed as Mercure Gold and local transports are getting to know us better.
We are pleased to know that you had a good experience with our Front Desk Services and yes, our rooms are quite spacious and we are happy that you liked them.
However, sometimes in spite of best of our intentions things go wrong. And also have strictly look into the smoke driven into the room and would refrain in happening so. We have taken note of your dissatisfaction over certain factors and your preference for a non- smoking room. Based on the above, we have rectified the problem areas and are confident of delivering the service standard that you are accustomed to.
My team joins me in sending you our sincere apology for inconvenience caused and assure you of best of our services at all given times.

Look forward to your visit again.

Best Regards,

All in all the hotel is good, but obviously it is not 5 star top quality luxury hotel with 1000m2 white marble lobby, and Rolls Royce Phantoms for the free airport transfer.
It is absolutely in line with the worldwide Mercure level.
Clean rooms, bathrooms, nice breakfast, polite staff. You can park directly in front of the entry.
The location is also good, the airport is 10 minutes drive.

I stayed for a short stopover for one night on 23.02.13. I got a great rate on lastminute.com. On arrival I was warmly greeted by the bell boy who unloaded my bags and escorted me to check in. At check in I was upgarded to suite which was great and the check in was smooth and appreciated as it was almost midnight. I left early the following morning, so did not sample any of the facilties or food, whci all looked good on first glance.
My only gripe was that I couldnt adjsut teh a/c so it was a bit cold!
Apart from that excellent, walking distance to Satwa, SZR and 10 mins in cab to airport. Easy to get taxis also. I am sure to stay there again, if I get a great deal.

Room Tip: Go for a room at the back or on a high floor as there is a bit of road noise. Suites are large.

I rarely come away from a hotel stay with such an aversion to a property. I had the worst possible stay at this Dubai low budget property. It's reasonably priced but the reason is because its just awful. My husband and I requested a non-smoking room, but they gave us smoking. Requested a change and they were not accommodating. In the end we got a non-smoking but it may as well have been smoking. The duty manager had no personality. The beds were so hard I could barely move the next day and the pillows were like bricks. I wouldn't have wanted to try the food, I just wanted to get out and get home.

Room Tip: Dont stay here.

The hotel is not in the wrong place - shops and restaurants 10 minutes walk from the hotel, the city center and points of interest 10min with taxi.

I am a gold member of Accor Le Club card and in the last 12 months I spent in Accor hotels total of 38 nights. Mercure brand is part of Accor hoteles. Nowhere in the world have I seen such a bad hotel with so bad personnel. Photographs on the hotel´s website are either photomontage or twenty years old, but anyway, it's blague and false advertising.

At our check-in was the both receptionist long phone calls (Shobin and Nazim), they neither greeting and nor even responded to our greetings.

We stayed in the Executive Suite (list price 265EUR/355USD without breakfast). In the room was old carpet sometimes longer without pattern, old detrited chair, personal weight machine without battery, untuned TV (and even for 3 days of our stay was not tuned), clogged sink in the bathroom, functionless bedside lamp, after bedside table was thrown old baguette (all three days our stay). Staff and management did not care and they were clear that it is in this hotel is normal.

Consierge just waiting for a tip and not at all assist and helpful for guests. The only thing that interests they is that you do need a taxi - but our notice: all taxi, which will call the hotel staff are about 60-80% more expensive than what you take yourself in front of the hotel.

In the evening we visited the hotel Spa. Staff did not speak English and had sent us for Spa towels to the reception (in the room is a sign that the towels not to be taken to the Spa), the reception told us that towels must fear in Spa. Also receptionist had a problem with the staff arranged. In the old Spa lockers were stacked cleaning and disinfecting products and others were locked. Finally, it was found that the steam bath was switch off, and we would have to wait 60min to optimal temperature, sauna is not at the hotel at all. Spa services truly four-star international hotel!

Services are an embarrassment for international chain. Quality are on to the two-star hostel level. We are NOT recommended stay here - it's terrible!

We stayed 2 nights at Mercure Gold Hotel Dubai. We choose this Hotel cause it's close to the airport and to the city, and also to the Open Bus Line.
The Hotel is good, has Wi-fi service in the public areas and the rooms are big and spacious.
The price was decent (for Dubai Standards) and we believe it was a good option for us.
The location is good since is close to the airport and to the city and is walking distance to nice restaurants and also to one stop of the open bus.
