“Great Place for Business”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2013

We stayed here for 3 nights for business, the single room were great. Plenty of room to work. The staff were very friendly, and to relax in the evening the bars were great. I strongly recommend this place. If they ask you to stay at the apartments instead if the deluxe room, don’t accept the offer as you will be disappointed

Room Tip: If they ask you to stay in the apparments, DON'T. The delux rooms are better

We booked this hotel after a loooong look on the internet and reading and seeing other peoples reveiws, and boy where we in for a surprice.
we booked a luxury apartment for 4 people through booking.com and it didn't live op to the standards at all.

The apartment had a nice size and and the bathrooms are really nice but the sinks cloted up most of the times and thats not good. beds allright but the pillows stank and there where stains on them and on the bed and on the backboard of the bed wich was disgusting. The carpets was dirty and staind.

The kitchen was ok and everything worked, but it is not a 5 star standerd 3,5 max. and remember to do a listing check, because, there where a couple of things missing and when you do the check, make sure to give the list and get a copy on the first ore second day, and get it signed so they dont charge you for something, that was already missing in the first place.

In the first to days my sheets was not changed because i noticed a hole on the right side of the beds sheets and everytime we went out and came back and they had made up our rooms the hole was still there, not until third og fourth day did they change, and then they did it everyday.

the apparment was really dirty and i had to use a hole day of my vacation on cleaning the kitchen and kitchen appliens, the dinner table was not clean and had to buy glass cleaner to get the job done. sofas was very dirty with huge stains on them that was very dissatisfieing espeically when u pay over 9000 dh (check out my pictures)

We came on the 1st of april 12 o'clock midnight and left nine days later and we paid for two days wich we didnt get a full stay because of our plane tickets. we tried to get recompensated, wich i have heard a lot of my friends that stayed in dubai did, but the person that gave us our apartment (name was atef) couldent help us ore provide us with some kind of recompensation and that is NOT a five star service. my nephew was in dubai earlier and had the same isshue but without any problems did not have to pay for a day because of same late arrival. very dissapointed not to get anything at all, not free internet ore a free dinner to compensate but noooo. not five star service.

The staff was genreally nice and helpful but that was mostly the indian og pakistana ore african staff, rest was not nice ore friendly.

pool area sucked big time the water was soooo warm. Did not make any sence.

The area that the bonnington is in, there is a lot of construction work, but that really did not bother me, i kinda like places that are alive so all good, but more so u know that there are only a few restaurants in walking distance, wich we did not use at all because they where always empty and therefore i think you might have a bigger chance catching som bad food.
there a two supermarkets and the have everything so dont bother buying stuff from home.
the area is nice and the metro is five minutes walk and that system works and runs perfectly.

not a place i would recommend unless it costed 3000 ore 4000 dh for the 9 days where we paid over 9000.

And after this review u might think, hmm well, did u not try to change rooms ore make somebody aware of this ?? well no i didn't because, i did not have the energy to start arguing ore fighting for a room change, because u shoulden't have to when u pay for a 5 star plus accomidation, i just wanted to get on with it, and not ruin my vacation, wich i had planned 6 months before. and i do not need to reed a feed back from the staff, like on other reviews on here where they just fill you with bs. saying we sorry bla bla. HAD A GREAT STAY IN DUBAI BUT THIS HOTEL IS NOT WORTH PAYING SOOO MUCH.

Dear benyamin b,

Thank you very much for your comments. Since our very first TripAdvisor review, we have replied to every single one of them, not only because we value the time TripAdvisor users take to share their opinions & feedback with us, but also because we think that it's a courteous thing to do.

I was sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay with us. Naturally, we have looked into the points you raised in your review, because, again, that's what we do and we generally find it helps us improve.

Firstly, perhaps about your request for a refund re. your arrival & departure times: In line with most other hotels in the city & wider region, our check-in time is 2 p.m. and our check-out time is noon. The fact that you arrived at midnight on your arrival day, i.e. 10 hours after our earliest advertised check-in time, and left before noon on your departure day, does not present a legitimate reason for a reduction in the overall room rate. Our check-in and out times are very well advertised on all booking platforms and it is obvious that we do not charge per hour stayed, but by nights.

If you peruse the many other reviews for our property here on TripAdvisor, you should have realised that we generally do not have a problem with taking corrective action if a does not enjoy his or her stay with us. We would have been very happy to move you to another apartment, if you had told us of the problems you encountered during your stay immediately as they occurred.
Our Housekeeping reports show that on the second day of your stay, you requested the room attendants not to clean the kitchen area of your apartment. On subsequent days, our attendant did clean the kitchen, but found it only very lightly used. When our housekeeping supervisor came to check with you personally following the service to your apartment, you mentioned that everything was fine.

We did subsequently get one of our maintenance staff to check the sink in the unit you occupied, however found that it worked very well.

We did find a stain on the headboard of the bed and on the carpet and I would like to apologise for the fact that these were not spotted & removed earlier on. Both have now been dealt with.

We have also noted your comments re. the bedlinen, however, we have not received any other similar comments which, as all our linen is handled by the same launderer, is somewhat odd.

Once again, benyamin b, thank you for the time you have taken to share your feedback.

Best regards,

Bruno Guilloux

A well located business hotel with spacious rooms and large bathrooms . The staff are pleasant and I would recommend for business travellers! Yet again they try too hard with technology that doesn't work- everything controlled from a panel by the bed - looks like the controls on a spacecraft and no instructions - lights dim, go off " come back on ,different lights are linked but you don't know which to who And the temp control on the wall shows different temps to the panel .
My other little bug bare with these hotels is why they insist on pointing the shower head towards you and the bathroom so that when you first turn on the water you get drowned! It could also be dangerous if hot! All it needs is to ensure the showerhaed is turned to the wall after cleaning !

We satyed at the Hotel in between 03/30/2013 and 04/02/2013 and were first time in Dubai. This is great hotel. Staff at the reception was very pleasant and helpful. The room was very spacio
us and almost perfect. The bed and quilt was very best you could get. I felt like home. The swimming pool and bar was great place to relax. It is far from airport though and the taxi is quite expensive but metro is only 5 minutes walk from the hotel and they do have their shuttle service to main attractions. The shuttle driver was very pleasant and very professional like. He paid lot of attention towards taking care of his guests and make them feel at home. He xhecked with everybody if they need ride back. I think that this kind of employee is great assett to the employer. I will certainly stay again and reccomend to my family and friendsi.

This hotel isn't bad, don't get me wrong but check in was chaotic - not in terms of the numbers checking in but even as just one party of 5, some pre arranged aspects of our booking simply hadn't filtered through. This continued through to the last day and upon checkout, the confusion still reigned. It's still unresolved and this has taken the shine off things.

The staff, however, were very friendly and helpful, especially the concierge team although it felt a bit strange and frankly a little questionable having to hand over cash for an excursion booked through he concierge team.

The hotel is close to the metro so the fact that it is a little way out isn't much of an issue. Public transport and taxis are both very affordable. The hotel runs a shuttle to the beach but that could do with being much more frequent if it is to be effective. Two trips there in the morning and one back in the evening isn't flexible enough.

We had two children in the party and to be honest, it's not particularly child friendly. The leisure deck is pleasant but is too small and doesn't get the benefit of the sun. The gym is also small, so demand for equipment can be high.

Whilst I had a pleasant enough stay, the not particularly smooth checkin and out detracted from our experience. Free wifi would be also be helpful. That's something I look for when staying at a hotel. So,,would I stay there again ? Sorry but no.

Dear Trixiebe,

Thank you very much for your review!

Please accept my apologies for the problems you encountered upon check-in. This is certainly not indicative of the standards we aim for.

It was nice to see that you thought that our team-member to be friendly & helpful. In regards to the excursion, which are provided by outside suppliers, cash payments are still common here, however you should have also been given the option to charge these costs to your room bill.

Please also note that free wifi has now been available for a while. For high volume users, requiring higher bandwidth, we do charge, but have put together a number of reasonably priced packages.

We do hope that we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back to the Bonnington one day - if only to show that we can do better.

All the best,

Great modern hotel. Clean and spacious rooms with lovely bathrooms. The pool is fabulous and most relaxing. Pretty far from the hustle of Dubai so if you are into shopping it might become costly travelling back and forth as taxis are pretty expensive in Dubai. The hotel does offer free shuttle services to selected places which is convenient. There is a supermarket right next to the hotel which is very convenient. The staff are very friendly and happy to help.

We booked a tour through the hotel for sand bashing. I would not recommend the tour with this company as they were not professional. If booking through the hotel rather get them to book your tour with Arabian nights. They are a bit more expensive but definitely a better experience.

Dear shazam14,

Very many thanks for your review! It was nice to hear that you had a good stay at the Bonnington!

I was, however, sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your desert safari - we do use a number of carefully selected & municipality approved providers for such tours and usually do not encounter any issues. We will, of course, pass your comments on to them.

We hope to be able to welcome you back to Dubai & the Bonnington in the future.

Thank you very much for your review! It was nice to see that you enjoyed your time here. In regards to your comments about the offsite laundry, we do provide an onsite laundry & dry cleaning service for our guests, which generally works really well and may be an alternative for next time.
