Owner description: In the historic district, the Abra Dock in Bur Dubai, is an affordable 10-minute traditonal wooden boat ride -- really a taxi. Take the abra from the Bastakiya side, look around the textile souk and the art galleries, and end in the gold souk. Used by 15-20 million passengers each year, the Abra Dock in Bur Dubai is a memorable cruise in the water.

The Abra boat ride across the creek was fun. It really allows you to see the old city from a different perspective. And at a couple Dirrhams excellent value.

It is fun to do and cheap (AED 1)

going for a one hour (AED 100) trip is fine but quite uninteresting

You can get a very good feel of how things might have been in years past when you visit this place as it still carries the sense of years past with all the abra boats, but I do imagine that the volume of traffic and boats today is far less than that of the past. Again, this being the modern era, it's no surprise, but worth seeing if you have a good sense of imagination to think about how it was years ago. Good heritage site, authenticity is fading though, see it before it gets completely ruined with the modern era.

it is nice to get on an Abra to cross the Dubai channel. you get the 'honour' of mingling with the local crowd of many other nationalities who use this means of transport. If the smell of sweat is not your type, then just stay away. Otherwise, you will certainly enjoy it !!! thumbs up !!
