Owner description: In the historic district, the Abra Dock in Bur Dubai, is an affordable 10-minute traditonal wooden boat ride -- really a taxi. Take the abra from the Bastakiya side, look around the textile souk and the art galleries, and end in the gold souk. Used by 15-20 million passengers each year, the Abra Dock in Bur Dubai is a memorable cruise in the water.

The areas around the docks are good to look around, historic sites, souks etc The short boat/ferry ride is cheap and good, ideally do it one way in daylight then the return at night, you get a different perspective.

The souks are well worth the visit, the Abras' are not overloaded, 18 people max and the captains do not allow anymore, for 1 dirham across the creek, well worth the experience, to buy spices and do a bit of tourist shopping. All stores selling much of a much, however haggling is the name of the game. Great place to buy nougat and various types of dates as well........

To connect Bur Dubai to Old souk, you take the ABRA. For AED 1. Just for the fun of getting across the creek is an experience on its own. On the other side is the spice market, gold souk and textile places

Great views of city, good for crossing creek and cheap to use, however disappointed with how much rubbish and debris was in the creek, probably the dirtiest place we experienced.

A must do thing when in Dubai - only 1 dirham, and brings you over Dubai Creek to the souks (Spice, Gold, Perfume, and Fish souk).
