In this review i am going to be quite picky. This is because the hotel charges alot for rooms, is rated 5* and is a Sofitel no less. Therefore there are certain standards that are expected and I just would like to share with you things that I felt were not up to that standard.
Arrived around 8am and had to wait about 2/3hrs before our room was ready. Room really nice, spacious. Bed like most in Dubai hotels - unbelieveably comfy. Balcony nice but if at the side like ours it's always in the shade - and only one chair? Bathroom good size - although some may find the toilet area cramped. Good shower. Towels nice. Abit inconsistent replenishing toiletries everyday. Otherwise maid service good.
Staff always very helpful - although make sure you ask the doorman if you need a taxi and not anyone else (eg. valet) otherwise you could wait a while!
Booked Dhow dinner cruise through concierge - was shown leaflet outlining the tour etc. and despite it being written on the leaflet and me also double checking with the staff member that soft drinks were included we were told otherwise on the boat and made to pay for our drinks. We were told only water and the buffet dinner was included. The drinks didnt cost much but I thought that it was really disappointing that such a highly rated hotel would mis-sell a tour that they recommended. We had nearly booked another tour with a company advertising along the Walk but we decided it was best to go with the hotels recommendation but wish we hadn't as other tours for a similar price included a belly dancer and soft drinks.
Pool area is too small for the size of the hotel - not enough sun loungers and too much cafe seating. And pool is in the shade until the afternoon. We only managed to get beds round the pool late one afternoon (4pm). Most Beach/pool towels are small and worn. Beach kit inc. beach chairs, water towels are good. Beach is 5/10min walk away because of construction work infront of hotel. But necessary as almost impossible to get spot round the pool.
We were on floor 15 and wasn't bothered by construction noise - people in super cars or on motorbikes revving their engine made more noise at night. If right next to lifts this could be quite loud - we were two doors down and could hear the beeps if you stood in the hallway by the door.
It's a shame about the cranes as they do create abit of an eyesore to the views and machine beeps can be quite annoying when by the pool but this is nothing to do with the hotel.
Location excellent - right on the JBR Walk by the Marina. Lots of restaurants to choose from and great place to people and car watch (it's a favourite cruising spot for people with expensive cars). Only drawback is traffic is awful. Apart from in the mornings it can take a long time to get out of the JBR complex which seems to have a lot of roadworks going on. E.g. 45mins+ to get to mall of the emirates.
Overall a really nice hotel that lets itself down in certain areas.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for staying at Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach and for taking the time to leave a thorough review. I appreciate the fact that your stay was nice overall and that you pointed out the areas where the hotel could improve. I will check with the Concierge the soft drinks charges on Dhow Cruise. Would you please email me the name of the Dhow Cruise you went on as we there are a lot of them in Dubai and we recommend different ones as depending on the budget of our guests. Same goes for the Desert Safari.
We have increased the number of sun loungers by the pool to accommodate the increasing demand.
Thank you again for your positive feedback and I look forward to hear from you.

Sincerely,

Sami Nasser

I am sat in the lobby of the hotel writing this review not wanting to leave. My wife and I have just had 4 wonderful nights at the Sofitel, everything was perfect, the staff are the key, nothing is too much trouble, they are always willing too help. We had a deluxe room on the 16th floor with a sea view. The room was a perfect size with all you need for a relaxing holiday, we spent most mornings by the infinite pool before exploring Dubia in the afternoon/evenings.

There are a limited amount of sun loungers by the pool but we had no problems finding two every morning, the staff do a good job of clearing away unused towels.

We used the sofit gym and the had a few beers in the Hub Irish bar both of we which were first class, a lady bringing you a cold towel half way through your workout, Perfect.

Tonight we have sat for 3 hours by the infinite pool listing to a young female DJ perform a great set.

The construction work is happening and it does get a little nosiey but it never bothered us or effected our enjoyment.

I would highly recommend this great hotel and if I ever visit Dubia again I would stay here.

I stayed there for 5 nights in Feb 2013, the hotel is quiet nice good and clean rooms, the area where the hotel is, is very nice one of the best in Dubai. Best recommended for night life. Though there is some construction work going in the area but still it does not play a spoil sport.

Room Tip: Higher floors are good for a better view of the beach.

Stayed here for 3 nights early Feb. What a lovely place. From our arrival we were really taken care of. The doormen are lovely. Our room wasnt ready as we requested a non smoking room with balcony. We were given free coffee and dates whilst we waited.
The room was clean with lots of amenities. The bathroom is one of the best ive ever had in a hotel room.
This review wouldve been 5 stars if it wasnt for the construction going on over the road. The hotel has a nice view of the sea and beach but was spoilt due to diggers and trucks. The construction also goes on until the early hours of the morning which spoilt our balcony. It was so noisy it reminded me of london during rush hour. However keep the balcony doors closed and you wont hear it.

Great stay and would return when the construction is finished.
