The service was very good apart from one hiccup namely a buggy did not arrive for a transfer to the pier.

The food was good, the pool lovely the sand and sea were nice although the construction from the palm was a small eye sore ( and there was a little noise from the boats moored just off the beach ),obviously not the hotels fault. The spa was pleasant and gym very good. For 400£ a night the standard is about right for this location and quality

Room Tip: a room on the ground floor so you can exit right to the beach

We have not long arrived back from this hotel. It's our 4th time at the Residence & Spa, and yet again this hotel was faultless. From the moment you arrive at the Residence, the staff are they to greet you, like your family. We travel there with our daughter who is now 9, the staff cannot do enough to make sure your daughter is happy. They are truly amazing. This hotel is pure luxury, you are treated like Royalty. The Dining Room where you eat in the evenings is something else, you practically have a private chef, as you can order whatever you want, even if its not on the menu. The afternoon tea is devine, we love having an hour break from the pool to indulge in cakes, scones, sandwiches and whatever drink takes fancy. The pool staff are just incredible, they want to make your time by the pool, doing nothing as perfect as possible. They are fantastic, and our daughter thinks the world of them, they've known her since she was 6. Its nice to go back to the same hotel and the staff are all still there, give or take a few. They all love their jobs and love making sure the guests are happy. This hotel should be a 6 star, as its certainly deserved. We will be back next year, and hopefully October this year. Would certainly recommend.

Room Tip: All rooms are amazing, we always have a downstairs room, so we can just nip across the beautiful gardens, to the pool or beach

Wow, what a hotel. We stayed here in July 2013 for 4 nights following 2 weeks in the Maldives to do something a bit different before returning home to the UK. This hotel is one of the best I have ever stayed in. From our room to the service, the spa, the food, the staff, it was all perfect. We could not fault it at all, absolutely perfect. The staff could not do enough to help us with any requests.
Staying in the Residence and Spa you feel extra special, it feels very private with just 48 rooms and I definitely recommend the complimentary afternoon tea, it was delicious!! And it is worth taking a visit over to the sister hotel on the Palm, this is fantastictoo.
We will definitely be returning to this hotel but probably at a different time of year, maybe November or Feb/March as it was very hot.
Thank you to all the staff for making our honeymoon so magical.

As we did not travel to Dubai in 2012 for the first time since 2000 because of our newly acquired pet dog, we were very much looking forward to our visit this year.
Since the Residence was closed for their annual maintaince till July 4th, we arrived on July 6th after spending the first 8 nights at the Arabian Court (see separate review).

We were welcomed back as if we had been there just yesterday and felt "home" again immediately despite enjoying our time at the Arabian Court.
The sparkling date juice tasted as good as ever and the cold towels were a treat upon arrival, despite the short walk from the AC.
Our 2 Prestige rooms (no. 16 & 17) were not ready till 2pm but we were given another room which we could use to change etc.

It was great to see quite a few familiar faces although we also noticed a great number of the staff had changed over the past 2 years, including the manager.
Mr Hicham is a friendly manager and although he is very invisible, he seems to run the place perfectly.

Our rooms were closely located to each other, one room for us and one room for our 3 children.
Yes, we are repeat guests (it was our tenth anniversary stay at the Residence) and we are those guests other guests do not like to see as we have 3 children (10, 12 & 14).
But please understand that there are also children on this world who do/can behave or do get corrected by their parents if they make too much noise or behave badly! If you want total peace, book a stay at a "couple only" hotel??

The rooms were as good and clean as always with new touches though as they have clearly been renovating the rooms for the past 2 years. No broken items, no maintaince needed or anything, simply all in order.
The Bose iPhone/iPod docking station in room 17 proved a challenge but thanks to our butler Rinsley, it worked after 1 day.
Our room attendant Vijay was very thorough and made sure the rooms were immaculate again as soon as we returned from breakfast around 10.00 am! Absolute great service.
Breakfast was a treat with the wide variety of fresh fruits and every other yummy item but beware of the ordered poached eggs, they were never warm...........
Dinner is a dream, the chef basically prepares what you would like and with children this is ideal. Great entrecôte, prawns, lamb, hamour or other fish dishes to choose from as a main meal, mouthwatering starters and great deserts.
Afternoon tea tasted great, beautiful cakes, pies, scones, freshly made sandwiches and little tartlets but we do think there is a new pastry chef too as it was slightly different than 2 years ago but nevertheless very nice.

Beach and pool service are excellent and we were smitten with the pool which had a total makeover during the month the hotel was closed. It looks chique again and not shabby :-)

It was great to find out that there was (at last!) complimentary wifi available. It even reached the cabana's at the beach and the complimentary variety was fast enough so a paid for upgrade was not necessary ;-)

There is one thing which I find a "must" in every hotel room: tea/coffee making facilities. Why is this such an issue at the Residence?
It was solved generously but I felt terrible and uncomfortable having to ask for it.
(Tip: for repeat guests: some rules have changed, ask management/reception first before assuming it is ok!)

A BIG thank you to ALL the staff at the Residence, we very much enjoyed our stay and hope to be back soon!!!

I'm lost for words to describe the overall experience you will encounter at the "One & Only Residence & Spa"

I have stayed at this hotel many many times over the last eight years and still cannot sings its praises loudly enough !

Everybody is extremely helpfull and nothing is to much trouble from the guys running round on the beach in searing heat to the very accessible management team.

Hicham the general manager is like the conductor of a world class orchestra.
His presence is only required to guide the well trained team of staff he has assembled around him.

You will not be disappointed if you choose to visit this highly polished jewel in Dubai

This hotel will exceed your expectations trust me I'm hard to please !
