“Convenient value for money”
Reviewed February 27, 2013

My wife and I stayed one night at the Ibis Mall of the Emirates on a stopover to Europe.
In every respect, our stay at the Mall of the Emirates was positive.
CHECK-IN
Arrival was efficient and staff were relaxed and friendly. We were given plenty of information about the hotel and the location, and all our questions were answered easily, including with maps and timetables.
ROOM
Our double room was as described and in line with our experience for a property of this type and price range. Our fourth floor room had a nice view from the window, particularly at night. Everything in the room was clean and tidy. Our only minor complaint was the shower door, which leaked onto the bathroom floor. I'm hesitant to blame Ibis for this because it's a problem with shower doors in just about every hotel in the world. I guess shower doors just look better when they're not sealed!
LOCATION
This hotel is one street across from the Mall of the Emirates, which is one of largest shopping malls in Dubai. I'm guessing you can spend several days (and many thousands of dollars) in the Mall of the Emirates, and still not see every shop.
The hotel is also reasonably close to the Mall of the Emirates Metro stop (it's about 600 or so metres walk away). Taxis are cheap in Dubai, meaning that you can get to the Metro stop without too much bother if you'd prefer not to walk.
As an overall comment about the location, Kempinski's Mall of the Emirates 5-star hotel is just down the street from the Ibis property. I think that tells you everything you need to know about the quality of the Ibis location.
LUGGAGE STORAGE
Because of a very early flight arrival, we weren't able to move into our room on arrival. The staff kindly put our luggage in storage until later in the day. I noted that measures to secure the luggage were very good - you could only access your bags in the company of a staff member. This is a better arrangement than some other hotels we've stayed at over the years.
OVERALL IMPRESSION
Good choice for stop-over and short stay. During summer, strolls and shopping in the air-conditioned comfort of the Mall of the Emirates would help fill in the day. We were very satisfied with this hotel.
TIPS
Water: the hotel has a vending machine for bottled water on Level 3.
Dubai Metro: buy a first class day ticket. It's not much more and you'll enjoy the extra comfort
Mall of the Emirates: even if you don't ski, visit the St Moritz Cafe on the ground floor (south west corner of the Mall) and watch skiers and snowboarders riding snow in the desert.
Traffic: to access the Mall of the Emirates, walk east around the corner of the Kempinski Hotel (have a peek at a Google map to see what I'm talking about!). There are no traffic control devices at that intersection, but the traffic is not heavy in this area. But be careful all the same - Dubai drivers can be fast on the road!

Room Tip: I'd try to book a room on the eastern side to avoid the bright afternoon light in summer.

Don't be fooled by a fancy lobby. How this hotel can justify calling itself a BUDGET hotel, I will never know. For one night, I paid around 150 GBP, which did not include breakfast. The hotel doesn't have a gym or swimming pool, but you can use the one next door....If you pay for it. Internet is chargeable in rooms, while most hotels in the vicinity at least give you wired internet for free (CityMax Barsha 5 mins away). It is close to the Mall of the Emirates, but many hotels are. The room is small and sterile, and the TV is not as big as at other hotels that are cheaper than this one. All in all, this hotel would be fine if it was a more reasonable rate. Value for money is basically non-existent.

Room Tip: Try CityMax Al Barsha

I was a little disappointed on arrival as I had booked a twin room online, but the hotel was overbooked and I ended up having to take a double and share a bed with my 5 year old son for the duration. However the staff (particularly the restaurant staff) were very friendly and went out of their way to look after my son at breakfast times. The room was kept clean and when we asked for a change of linen it was done promptly. The location is a five minute walk from the rear entrance to the Mall, where there is a supermarket, so it is easy enough to stock up on drinks/snacks for the room. The traffic around the hotel is crazy and most cars dont stop or slow down when you are trying to use the cross walk. There is an Italian restaurant in the hotel, also Nandos and Subway and laundry facilities within walking distance. The Metro can be accessed via the Mall if you aren't planning on driving, and is probably the most efficient way to travel there. There is free internet in the lobby and the rooms have tv and internet at a cost. I think this hotel is fine for a short stay, but if you are planning a fortnight or longer - you might want to look for a bigger room and a hotel that has a swimming pool.

First of all, we would like to thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Trip Advisor.

I regret to read that we were not able to accomodate your request of Twin Bed.
I am pleased to inform you that very soon, we will provide free internet connection in the room, in order to accomodate the on going growing demand of connectivity.

In case you plan a new trip to Dubai for leisure with your family members, I would kindly recommand you the Suite Novotel Mall of Emirates, adjacent to Ibis, having more spacious rooms and a swimming pool.

Looking forward to welcome you again in Dubai.

This hotel is located near Mall of emirates you can get there by walk. You have to be careful when crossing the street. There are no traffic lights and cars drive too fast. The hotel has very nice interior, completely clean. The room service and housekeeping do their job efficiently. We stayed 4 nights. There are no leisure facilites shuch as swimming pool. There are vending machines for juice and water also ice making machine.
Wifi is free in common area.Breakfast was nice but sometimes coffee maker had problem and that caused long queue.Safe boxes were in the reception.
Finally, this hotel is very comfortable specially for business and has higher standards than a two star hotel.

Spent 2 nights in Ibis Dubai during a stopover. its a fantastically located hotel, right off Mall of the Emirates, which basically makes it a great business-trip hotel, both for work and for shopping. The rooms are good, internet is fast and the breakfast is special. By Dubai standards, it rates pretty high up there!

I travel to Dubai almost every month and first time I stayed at this hotel. When I checked in, the reception staff were unfriendly and I felt unwelcomed.
The towels are old and dirty. Don't expect hand towels. My last towel had holes and I had to give it to the reception in person so that they don't wash it and give it to other guests.
In general, the service is terrible and I do not recommend this hotel. I will never go back.
