We had the opportunity yo have dinner at the Reflets by Pierre Gagnaire. What an amazing evening it was. The chef and his staff brought us pieces of art that we have never seen before.
We will always remember this evening.

I wondered if it would be as good as the Paris restaurant and it is. An assault on your taste buds! Service is slightly different but a real treat

Never mind the so-so reviews; in truth this remains the best restaurant in Dubai. Top ingredients, creative preparations and surprising tastes. For those who want a quick fix for taste buds and large portions, just proceed to the nearest CheeseCake Factory. If you want to experience a poetic expression of food as a more refined art form, including being very tasty, give it a try. In Chef Gagniere's usual formula, there are usually 3 small preparations of each main ingredient. The meal is savored over a long period of time so don't be in a rush. What is also refreshing is that the French Sommelier seems happy to train and pass his knowledge to Dubai based staff, without any pretensions..

There are some rather silly reviews of this place on this website. Firstly, if you don't like to spend a lot of money, please don't book. Secondly, anyone who complains that there is no view out of windows needs to decide what they want from a restaurant before booking a table. Simply unbelievable foolishness. I cannot avoid giving five stars across the board.

Reflets has the finest and most assured service I ever found in a restaurant, with staff not even coming close to your table necessarily, just all waiters including the maitre moving calmly around, checking every table constantly from a distance in a quite busy restaurant. I can't recall the last time I didn't need to gently attract a waiter even once over the course of 2-3 hours to fill a glass, ask for water, clear plates, etc. However, if you do need service, it's quick to arrive.

The food is the most creative in Dubai, eyewateringly attractive as well as wonderful to taste. Nick and Scott (creating and cooking exotica at Table 9 restaurant until the end of 2013) have meetings with Reflets to exchange ideas for new dishes. My descriptions of the utterly innovative dishes and presentation would not do them justice. I laughed with joy at some of the food presentation, true artistry. I find the decor to be sumptuous and maybe even a little fin-de-siècle. Book a booth and luxuriate in the food and the attention, which is light years from the stereotypical French arrogance that some might expect.

It's still got the Gagnaire magic. The service is silky smooth and the food is exquisite. What's changed is hard to fathom, but something is different. It could have been that when we went it was a quiet evening so not much atmosphere. It could have been a slightly less welcoming service that evening. Or perhaps there is a cost cutting in the restaurant which means the wine selection isn't quite what it was and the ingredients are not quite as diverse. Whatever it is, the restaurant seems slightly different. All that said it is still remarkable, and the best in Dubai. Does anyone else agree that things have changed slightly for the worse or was it our bad luck that evening?
