We enjoyed a very nice evening at the Grand Grill. It is a South African steak restaurant that offers a wide menu that also includes chicken and fish.
The restaurant was relatively empty on the night we ate, but it was mid-week and the hotel lobby was being refurbished. Whilst the restaurant was quiet it did not affect the atmosphere or the service.
Ours scallops were cooked perfectly, as was our fillet steak that melted in your mouth. Our accompanying red wine was delicious. Sadly the menu is let down by its desserts. A dessert menu doesn’t exist, however a dessert platter is presented at the table. Most of the dessert options were slices of insipid processed types of cake whether it be chocolate or a cheesecake. Most were uninspiring, and the choice we made resulted in us referring to it as “a waste of calories”. The desserts wouldn’t deter me from returning, but it is an area of the menu that would benefit from some TLC.
