We recently spent three days at the Atlantis with our 8 year old and were not disappointed. The rooms come at a premium with even standard rooms starting at around $300. We took an executive suite as a splurge but we were not disappointed. It was a beautifully appointed room with a spacious sitting room with couches and a small breakfast table and flat screen TV. The bedroom had another flatscreen and large comfortable bed. This was all facing out on the huge balcony that included a table and four chairs and two sunloungers overlooking the Palm.
The bathroom was the highlight of the room with an enormous tub, separate shower, dressing room and two sinks.
The porters, valets and room service staff were top notch. The best was the room service "maid" who kept leaving cute animals made out of folded bath towels for our daughter. They went above and beyond.
The rest of the hotel is, like Dubai, unbelieveable. There is a beautiful lobby area adorned with glass sculptures and murals. The spa is one of the most beautiful my wife and I have ever seen and it is connected to a health club that takes the idea of hotel "Gym' to a new level.
The shopping mall is small but with some big name jewelry stores. There are a variety of restaurants from family fare to gourmet Japanese and Lebanese.
The beaches and pools are more than adequate for keeping the little ones occupied while the grown ups sun themselves but the key family attraction is the water park, Aquaventure. They have rides and activities for kids from the age of 3 all the way up to the Ziggurat water slide which will make your hair turn white.
We did the Dolphin adventure which included swimming with a dolphin in a group of six people. We got to get a kiss from the dolphin, dance with the dolphin and finally have it pull us across the pool. Truly a memorable experience. So was the photo package for sale afterwards at nearly $200 for the photos on a flash drive. They were excellent photos but wow.
Lest I forget, there is a beautiful aquarium in the hotel which can be seen from the restaurant areas for free or via access to "The Lost Chambers" which gives a much closer look at the fish and some of the other creatures such as jellyfish and horseshoe crabs.
All in all, a very expensive adventure but the service was excellent, the food was top notch, the room was perfect and our daughter was happy.
We will go back again.
