“A TripAdvisor award?”
Reviewed July 10, 2012

After reading the reviews posted on TripAdvisor and staying at the Xclusive Hotel apartments, I subscribe to the opinion of the reviewers, who wonder how this hotel earned a TripAdvisor award. I realize that the award comes under the heading Top 25 Bargain Hotels in the Middle East, but the fact of the matter is that in the close by Bur Dubai area there are several hotels more or less in the same price range offering similar conditions and, in my view, better services.
My one bedroom executive apartment was very spacious, included a rather complete kitchen with several appliances, a living-room with a flat TV and DVD player and two bathrooms. In the bedroom there was also a flat TV, which was not synchronized with the one in the living-room, so the channel list included in the guest room folder only applies to one of the sets.
However, what I found most disturbing were the cooking odors trapped in the entire apartment and that got infiltrated in the cupboards, wardrobes and practically everywhere. The following day to my arrival I had the apartment aired with all the windows opened until the fried fish odors disappeared. In addition to this, several items were in need of dire cleaning, namely the ventilation hood over the electric cooker and the balcony curtains.
The wireless internet access is not complementary and the paid options are very limited, so if you chose a one week WiFi access at DHS 200, 00 and decide to extend it for one or two days, you will have to pay for 1 day half the price you paid for one week.
I was also told that the best connection is in the kitchen and when using your laptop for more than just reading your email, you will have to sit uncomfortably at the kitchen table. The table in the bedroom with the right dimensions is not an option because the internet signal does not allow for a continued internet connection.
Although listed under bargain hotels in the Middle East, there is no doubt, in my experience, that there are better options in the same hotel category in the close Bur Dubai neighborhood.

We stayed at the Xclusive apartments for 4 nights in early April. The apartment is well furnished and the service was great. The apartment is a bit difficult to reach if you want to use the Dubai metro as it is a bit of a walk. There is a small and good supermarket next to the apartment and also a Spinneys with more options and some restaurants about 10 min walk from the apartment. It was a bit difficult to locate the apartment the very first time but thereafter it was easy You may have to rely on taxi if you stay here so if public transport is your thing be prepared to walk a bit. We did not try the restaurant but used the pool. The upkeep of the pool and the gym was below par. The Wi-fi did work well. So overall good facilities and good service with the downside being the location.

Stayed here before, so knew what to expect and where to go which made all the difference. The hotel is located ~10 minute walk from Al Karama metro station, and 5 minute walk from Spinneys (supermarket). Large self-contained rooms with everything you should need, nothing overly fancy, but does a great job. This stay we had some issues with them charging us twice, and then charging too much, however they admitted and alerted us of the mistake before we knew.

Tip: They offer a pickup/dropoff service for the airport but it is very expensive compared to the metro train. Grab the train and get off at Al Karama, but make sure you know where you're going with a map first. Worth the 10 minute walk with suitcases to save some money (provided you can bear the heat).

Room Tip: All rooms are much the same from our experience!

Just got back from a wonderful 08 night stay at the Xclusive hotel apartments.
We had booked a one bedroom Delux apartment, and it was perfect for us 2 adults and our 2.5 year old son.
Right from the reservations process to our checkout, everything went like clockwork.

The location : If you want to be in Bur Dubai area, this is a very good spot. It is about 15 min drive from the airport. As many other reviewers have mentioned, it is about 5 mins walk from Spinneys, where you can get a huge variety of food stuff.
There is a 24 hour grocery store opposite the hotel. It is bit messy, but is a boon if you are lazy and don't want to walk up to Spinneys. It stocks almost all of the daily essentials and we found it extremely convenient.

The underground metro station 'Khalid bin Al Walid' is roughly 10-15 mins walk. We have used the metro a couple of times, but found taxis to be very convenient as well.
For us, getting a taxi was never a hassle. An empty one would usually drive by every 2-3 mins.
Otherwise, the people at the reception will call you one. A meter starts at 3:00 Dhirams, but if you call for a cab the meter will start at 6:00 Dhirams.
Some reviewers have mentioned that getting BACK to the hotel can get confusing. Here's a tip;
Just tell the cab driver that you need to go behind Spinney's at Bur Dubai, in front of Golden Sands 9. The Golden Sands apartments are famous and almost all the taxi drivers will know them. The hotel is in a lane directly opposite Golden Sands 9. We have always given these directions to the drivers, and have never faced any issue.

We have used taxis to visit many of the attractions and here is what he paid :

Hotel to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi - approx 220 Dhs each way
Hotel to Dubai Mall (Burj Khalifa ) - approx 25 Dhs each way
Hotel to Mall of the Emirates - approx 55 Dhs each way
Hotel to Burj Al Arab - approx 50 Dhs each way
Hotel to Atlantis - approx 65 Dhs each way

The hotel has a small lobby, two elevators. All the common areas were very clean and well kept.
The apartment itself was huge, with a big living room and a kitchenette, a decent sized bedroom with a king sized bed, a full bathroom in the bedroom and a separate toilet with wash basin in the living room. There are 2 TVs, a 42 inch unit in the living room and a 32 inch unit in the bedroom. There is a DVD player in the living room.
The bedroom has an electronic safe, and ironing board and iron.
The air conditioning is effective.

The kitchenette is equipped with few pots and pans, plates, spoons, forks, knives, and has a toaster, microwave, kettle, a 4 stove electric burner, and a washing machine. The washing machine does not have a effective dryer, but the hotel readily provides with a clothes drying rack that you can keep in the balcony, and clothes get dry real fast in the Dubai heat.
Our room was clean, and yes, if I looked very very closely, there were faint stains in one corner of the carpet.... there WAS a tile that was chipped at one edge. But these are minor gripes for me. The bedsheets and towels were changed daily and were spotlessly clean.

There is a gym and a small pool on the 08th floor, but we didn't use either.

The hotel does not have any FnB outlet. But there are many restaurants in the vicinity, and the reception has contact details of quite a few. Most of the restaurants will deliver to your room.

I have traveled around the world and stayed in many high end hotels. I am of the firm opinion that the staff in a hotel are most important in making your stay memorable.
The staff at the Xclusive is highly commendable. From Bhakti Baretto in operations and Junar at the reception, to the drivers, housekeeping staff, everyone was extremely helpful and ever smiling. They seemed genuinely concerned to provide good service.

Our Delux room stay included return airport transfers, a 4GB internet access. Each floor has two wi-fi routers, and internet was great if you wanted to check mails and access facebook, but not so good if you wanted to watch you tube.

We were provided early check in and late checkout. On the way to the airport, the driver got a call from the hotel saying we had forgotten a bag behind, the driver promptly took us back to the hotel to pick up the bag, no extra charge for the additional trip back to the airport.
Its the little things like these that make all the difference.

This hotel is NOT at all luxurious. So for those looking for a classy affair will be disappointed. But it is a very good value for money option. You get more than what you pay for.

The hotel will be undergoing refurbishment soon. So people making plans for a future visit need to check on this with the hotel beforehand.
However, I was told that the owners have acquired another property nearby that is a bit more up-market, which will be available to guests in near future.

We are extremely satisfied with our stay and would definitely stay here on our next visit to Dubai.

Room Tip: The hotel offers Executive and Delux rooms. Pay a bit more and opt for the Delux rooms. The extra se...

I can't be that critical - the Xclusive apartments are absolutely fine. We wanted to be in the Bur Dubai area so the location was fine, the rooms are absolutely massive - like having your own apartment with kitchen, dining table and lounge as well as a reasonably sized room and two bathrooms! They were clean, there was a pool, it was close to Spinneys supermarket so we were able to make our own lunches - what more can I say? If I am going to be in Dubai again though, I would probably look for one of the heritage places in the Bastika area just for a bit of old Dubai character.

Room Tip: I've noticed that some of the reviews have said that the rooms were a bit tired and bathrooms ne...

Not sure why this gets good reviews or how it won a trip advisor award It's an average apartment hotel. Rooms are worn and first day we found something foul on the bathroom floor. I've stayed in much better 3 star apartment hotels and would rate this a 2 star at best.

Staff are attentive but nothing special.

Location is okay but again depends what you are looking for. There is a supermarket 5 mins away and a good choice of restaurants. The metro and Burjuman mall is walking distance.
