The Ali Qapu Palace is small, but with beautiful paintings and architecture in the Naqsh-e Jahan Square. The palace was built in the time of Shah Abbas, and the very naturalistic paintings were created by the court painter Reza Abbassi. If you walk to the top of the palace, you will also see what is called the "Music Room", which is made and decorated in stucco to deaden the sound of the court musicians who would play inside.

The best part of the Ali Qapu Palace, though, are the views from the terraced rooftop overlooking Imam (Naqsh-e Jahan) Square. You can see everything of the square from here, and also most of the Esfahan itself. I found myself when in the palace spending the most time here. The terrace when I visited in March 2013 was heavily under construction, but you could still walk out on it.

It is fascinating to see a big pool so many years ago is made of copper on the forth floor of a palace in Iran .I'm just amazed how they stopped the leakage, because it is made of many copper plates screwed together .Anyway ,when stood in the Ivan of the palace I saw the most beautiful view (felt like the king).

These cut-out musical instruments decoratively surrounding the entire room are an eye catcher. This was so that women in an adjoining room could hear the music though unable to attend performances. From the balcony near this room you have a wonderful view of the whole Iman Square. Very artistic and well worth seeing. I visited here in March, 2011
