From the outside, the Rosewood Corniche already lets you know that it’s your normal 5 star hotel.

The reception is rather small and actually disappoints the first time visitor. However, it seems like it’s only a waiting area for the butler who will check you in inside your room. The room was simply amazing. It must have been about 60 sqm with 3 floor to ceiling windows. The view of the Red Sea outside was breathtaking.

What struck me about the rooms was the level of detail and the functionality of every aspect. There were 2 identical telephone sets and they had a speaker phone so you can do your work without having to hold the receiver between your shoulder and head. It had a screen which showed information on missed calls, time etc. The bedside panel was an LCD gadget that allowed you to control the blinds, curtains, lights, temperature etc. Two large plasma screen TVs almost side by side let you watch 2 channels simultaneously. Behind one screen, which swiveled out, was the espresso machine and fax machine. Above the TV were 2 DVD players and an iPod dock.

The bathroom is another amazing feature. You get a large shower room that has 2 shower heads plus multilevel nozzles that hit you with horizontal showers from 4 points making sure you’re soaked completely. And to top it off the shower stall is also a steam room while the Jacuzzi fit for 2 and the 2 sinks are convenient.

What makes this hotel stand apart is the attention to detail. Every part of the hotel tells you that someone paid close attention during the building and decoration. There are beautifully complicated patterns all over the floors, carpets, ceilings, pillars and posts. The attention to detail carries on to the staff and service. Always greeting you by your name they continuously ask you if there is anything they can do for you. They would do so with a smile and eye contact. Best service you will find anywhere in the middle east.

I hadn’t mentioned the amazing atrium and the rooftop swimming pool, visible from below through several round clear windows.

A relatively new development and situated on the sea front with excellent views. Attempting to be a bit of a "boutique" but probably too large for that. Rooms well appointed but as it's a circular building, space doesn't quite work. Ghastly reproduction Dutch masters in cheap frames add a jarring note to the overall set-up. Bathrooms are on the small size, at least mine was but well equipped and the steam shower was excellent, particularly as it didn't mist up the rest of the bathroom.

There is a health club on the top floor which is well equipped and with great views. The rooftop pool is circular and small and with no shade up there, not that inviting when the sun is pounding its rays.

Food was fine at the Habsburg but not particularly inspired and the atmosphere decidedly quiet. Didn't try any of the other outlets.

Laundry quick and efficient, overnight always a blessing on a rushed trip.

Reception a little slow and not well sited, the whole ground floor area being somewhat claustrophobic.

Overall, fine but they could have made better use of the space and get rid of the dreadful art, there are plenty of excellent alternative Arab art forms.

The Rosewood offers excellent friendly customer service and a very relaxed atmosphere. I booked the Louloua room which overlooks the Red Sea (nonpanoramic) and comes with jacuzzi bath (though on the small side), a sitting area, two LCDs tvs in the room and one in the bathroom.
The furnishings were tasteful and felt quite new. The hotel was quiet- there is a 24 hour butler service but they are non-intrusive.
The food and main restaurant leaves a bit to be desired..breakfast although quite a spread wasn't too memorable. Better served ordering breakfast in the room.
the shower is huge and comes with massage sprayers.
location is quite good, close by to malls and although I had no kids with me I hear that there are all kinds of activities in Jeddah for kids.

Hotel facilities are include a couple of restaurants and no hair salon or spa, which was disappointing.
