“Good hotel, great staff”
Reviewed May 20, 2011

I stayed in this hotel while on a business trip to Jeddah. I had a very positive experience there. The hotel is nicely located, not far from the old city (al-Balad) and many of the more central destinations in Jeddah. One thing to keep in mind: the hotel is slightly out of the way, down a side street and not very visible from the main road, so taxi drivers will not always have an easy time finding it. If you plan to stay there I would recommend having the hotel's phone number on your mobile phone so you can call for directions if necessary. Also be aware that the hotel is reached via the King Fahd Road, but many taxi drivers will know it by its old name (Siteen Road). My room was extremely clean and well-furnished. There was an HDTV with many channels and wireless internet access. There is also a restaurant with table service located in the hotel, and a franchise of the very popular fried chicken restaurant Al Baik (like a Saudi KFC) is located across the street, so you can easily find something to eat nearby.

The best part was the staff, who were always friendly, polite, and helpful. Whenever I needed to call a cab, figure out directions to a different part of the city, or get advice about what to see in Jeddah, they were always eager to help. I especially owe my thanks to Mohammed, the Front Office Manager, who went well above and beyond the call of duty to mail me my iPod that I had forgotten at the hotel.

The Hotel and the staff are nice, but the location is too far away from the city center.
There is nothing in walking distance for sightseeing or after dark walking.
The Gold market is interesting but thats teh only shopping possible at this location.

We stayed at this hotel in August 2009 and found it at accors web site. The location is OK and close to the old town "Balad" with approx. 10 mins by taxi and cost around SAR 10. The hotel is situated right adjacent to the Jewelery & Gold and Wedding shopping centre which visitors may not be interested but may look around if nothing to do. There is a bank, some fast food (Al Balik-Fried Chicken similiar to KFC), some local canteen and an old supermarket nearby and that's it. The surrounding hotel area is poor and dirty, and not recommended to walk around alone.

For shopping and food, suggest to go to the 2 biggest malls in Jeddah namely The Red Sea Mall and the Mall of Arabia. Remember that all shops are closed in day time from noon til 5pm and there is nothing to do for tourists in between so may suggest to stay at some large hotel resort in the seaside modern "Corinche" area. This hotel is clean and the staff are helpful but there is no facilities at all. The restaurant is mainly catered for breakfast and good value.

Apart from business visitors, would suggest tourists to stay away from this town as it's not catered for tourists or should we say the whole country is not a tourism place at all. But people there are friendly but do not speak much English.

When I saw this hotel on Expedia I was attracted to the description of a modern hotel with sauna, fitness suite and a great location. I have to say the 36 pounds per night was also attractive.

Well, having travelled extensively in the middle east I should have known better! You get what you pay for.

This hotel is situated in the roughest part of Jeddah. The streets are filthy and the surrounding buildings are at best slums. It was like a scene from the film 'Black-Hawk Down'.

The hotel has a small, shabby reception area staffed by affable but ultimately inept staff. The room was spacious and the bedding was clean - which is more than can be said for the furniture (handles missing, stained surfaces), the walls (extensively marked and grubby) and worst of all the carpet which was stained and frankly filthy - it was not vacumed for the entire duration of my stay.

The worst aspect of the rooms was the damp. The air-con appeared not have a de-humidifier which meant that it sucked in hot humid air from outside and chilled it without removing the moisture. The sheets were damp and the whole room smelt mould mixed with old cigerette smoke. My wool mix suit which hung in the wardrobe ending up smelling like a wet dog. Most unpleasant.

As for the fitness suite - it does not exist. As the receptionist said, and I quote "we only advertise it because thats what tourists expect, we don't actually have one" candid, but not acceptable for an Accor hotel surely.

Overall, I got what I paid for.
