“It's Ok but not the best”
Reviewed May 8, 2012

We stayed 3 nights in this hotel in April 2011. Our Umrah Tour Operators booked this hotel for us but made a right mess of everything with room availability and the Arab male receptionist there was very rude to us. However, the manager came to our rescue after a long journey from Madinah and he was very pleasant, extremely helpful, sorted out 2 rooms for us at a very good price and gave us complimentary British tea, which was extremely nice of him. The staff were generally helpful, the rooms were very tidy and clean. Located in the old parts of Jeddah, there isn't much to see around the area - there are shopping malls close by where you can get decent stuff at cheap prices but the mall REALLY does need to be revamped. Taxi from the hotel was very quick as there are a few taxis waiting outside the hotel. The hotel does have a very nice Italian restaurant with decent food. The price of the hotel is reasonable too

This was my first stay at this hotel. The view from my room was excellent, since it was facing the Red Sea. The decor and the building itself are quite old and tired. Several floor tiles were loose and moved when you walked on them! Service was quite poor. Despite calling room service, they never delivered hand towels. This happened two days in a row.

The location is very good, close to the old city shopping area. The pizzeria at the hotel serves excellent pizzas.

Room Tip: Ask for the top floor (seventh) - you will at least have an LCD TV. Some of the lower floors have t...

When you book the room at Red sea palace through online, the will accommodate you in the higher floors 3rd and above, but when you book as walk in, there will be two choices, lower floors 1st and 2nd (non renovated) with a low price and 3rd and above with higher floors.
The higher floors are in a good condition and standards, so always ask for the higher floors.
You will enjoy your stay there as also it's in a superb location

Stayed several night and then got moved to the holiday inn due to mix up with bookings. Food wasn't bad and staff seemed fairly helpful.

We had visited this hotel 22 years ago, but not much had changed. When I booked here, I was led to believe that holiday inn was going to take over, but 2 years later, the sign was still up. In all my travels, this is certainly the worst hotel I have stayed in. Great location, but that's as far as it goes. We complained to the manager about the beds, which were spongy trampolines, and he upgraded us to a suite, which was a bit better than the room, with great views. Bathrooms and rooms, could desperately do with renovations.

Room Tip: Suites have good views of the sea

I was booked for two nights but stayed just for one. And that was more than enough. It's old, run down and things are falling apart. It's supposed to be taken over by Holiday Inn so hopefully it will improve. Can't get any worse.

My room was on the 2nd floor and even though the windows were closed, it felt like I didn't have any windows given the noise from the traffic. It's also located close to a bustling market so there's generally a lot of traffic.

The bathroom was run down and the fittings were falling apart much like most of the furniture in my room. The food was average at best. We didn't have breakfast included so I paid for mine - $17. I guess the spread was large, but the quality was poor.

Some of the staff were pleasant but others just thought they were doing you a favour.

I would not stay here again and I made that very clear to my local office.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel!
