“It's a construction site!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2011

I've been there for 9 nights, to speak from the bottom up, starting with the parking, it is free and underground, which is very important in a hot country, but smell there is terrible.

The reception also has the look and feel of a construction site, spots here and there, workers passing by, but after all it is undergoing a heavy make over, and i now how they work in Saudi Arabia and it will not take too long, so part of this review might not be relevant for long.

Rooms are ok, they remind me the sheraton in damascus much, it's almost a copy, the TV is still a 23'' tube TV, i thought these were obsolete,( i work in the AV industry) but they will have some collectors' items when the renovation finishes, all in all, rooms are spacious but they are not the cleanest, carpet was spotty ( to say the least ).

As for the staff, at first they were friendly and i did not have issues with them, but my initial booking was for 6 nights, after that i couldn't find a flight back as it was a holiday and flights to lebanon were hard to find, so from that night on, i kept receiving calls asking me to checkout, even the front office manager called me once at 5 am!!!!!! Assuming i was awake since it was ramadan time!!! i had checked in not long ago since work is during the night at this time of year, and he was asking me to pay them in cash in advance for my extra nights!!!!

But in the end they gave me a Huge discount on the average nightly rate which was 800 SAR (213$) , i got it upon checkout for 520 SAR (139$) so that kept their rating a little high, maybe they felt guilty that they didn't treat me right with all the calls and checkout requests they have been torturing me with for 3 nights.

As a conslusion:

Old rooms,average service,so-so staff....

Hotel is under heavy renovation from all ends. Service was great and the food was good. The buffet was about 150 SAR. The internet was on a daily coupon deal that you had to get from a person in the business center. Taxi cost from JED airport to hotel was about 80-100 SAR (exchange money at the airport). Red Sea Mall is about two miles to the north of the hotel (very nice mall). Overall I had a good Stay!

Stayed here as a Plat guest. Don't think they see many as they seemed puzzled what to do upon check-in. I was given an "upgraded" room on an SPG floor - don't think that means anything. It was nice. Usual Westin. The big issue was the hotel Internet was out for 12 hours overnight! Bad bad for a business hotel. Not sure there is much worse. They kept saying they were fixing it, but didn't happen...as for location, great views of the Sea, but there is nothing here. No beach. No restaurants. No stores. Just rocks, beach and construction...they do have a nice business lounge with some pastries and donuts. But no alcohol! Of course.

Big refurbishing works in progress (not mentioned on Starwood site: very bad) that enhance the status of poor maintenance of the building. But the worst was the room: moquette so badly spotted, battered furniture, glass panes very poorly kept. A very expensive (in relation to the quality) sadness and disappointment. Stay away at least for a couple of years, until the refurbishing will be completed.

My second visit in 6 months and I quite enjoyed the 'lobby' on the 12th floor - attentive service from a friendly staff with great cafe options and view of the sea.
My non-smoking room had a great view of the sea and the corniche but suffered from noise and crane movements from the construction next door - initially I felt the crane would swing thru my window!
Great location for seashore walks in the morning/evening - don't miss the whitehouse replica half a kilometre South of the hotel - its somebody's residence (they call it palace!)
WiFi is pricey here at SAR100 for 24 hours!

Spent couple of days of last January, on a business trip. The only reason I stayed here is overbooking in nearby Jeddah Sheraton
Comparing its prices to location on the Sea Front, gives it a extra mark . Close to one of the newest malls in this part of Jeddah, Red Sea Mall .
Rooms are OK yet Lobby is dead ..
in simple English ..
Excellent Location+ Untrained Staff + Good Restaurants YET .. Value is Higher than competitors .

the hotel is located across from the red sea. The front desk Ethiopian man and a local young man very helpful and polite..........welcoming. The brunch is so-so, the food service is bad. They pick and choose who to serve. The oj juice dispencer was not woking. They did not have back food for brunch. The drive way needs improvment. About 15 minutes out of city center. The rooms are very nice, view is fantastic.
