These falls are absolutely beautiful and definitely worth a visit. If you can, go first thing in the morning before all the crowds arrive (the vans start arriving around 9/9:30). We climbed to the top of the big falls and swam up there which was so nice and refreshing (and also less people).
We hired a scooter and it was an easy ride of about 30km from the center of Luang Prabang. The road is reasonable, a few potholes but fine provided it’s not raining.

We got a minibus from Luang Prabang, around 45 minutes away. Highly recommend going as early as you can, we got there for around 10am and wasn't too busy but at midday it was getting busier

The falls are incredible. We did the trekking trail to the top of the falls which was lovely. The top of the falls was amazing. Great for pictures

We walked back down and swam in one of the pool areas, well worth the visit

Lovely cool place to have picnic, about 45 mins car ride from Luang Prabang.
The different cascading falls with crystal clear water makes Kuang Si Falls very pretty.

Travelled a long way to get there and then surrounded by lots of happy tourists, lots of lovely pics being taken. But then you realise there is rubbish in the waterfalls, the steps have collapsed into the falls and there’s building debris around the sides. Toilets and changing rooms aren’t the worst ever but considering the regular amount of people passing through you think they could be updated.

The bear sanctuary in the middle was a delight, this was clean and up to date for the bears, however there was a clearly distressed bear inside ( so much so that other bears went in to help out) and it transpires that they receive no financial support for the bears from all the money going into the park.it feels like a lot of money is being made from a natural event and going into someone’s pocket. The place is not looked after and the bears are an added attraction but when there is a problem there is no aid. The whole experience left me with a sour taste in my mouth.

One of the must visit attraction for Luang Prabang. The water was almost ice cold but worth a swim! God’s beautiful creation.

This is a great way to spend half a day. The forest and falls provide a welcome coolness out of the heat and humidity as well as stunning views.
The bear sanctuary is a great addition and I was lucky enough to be able to speak to a member of staff who gave me some history on each bear. Most of whom have been rescued from appalling neglect. I am actually taking part in their bear keeper for a day program when I reach Cambodia. They don’t currently offer it her in Laos.

We rented bikes and rode from Luang Prabang. It’s quite hilly and exposed but great exercise and fun (you’ll need gears!). Very worth the visit, good day trip. Touristy but still really cool. Bonus is you get to see the elephant sanctuary and buffalo dairy on the way up, and the Wild Asiatic Moon Bear rescue is free and on the same grounds. You can swim in the pools, but please be sure to cover yourself. It’s not okay to walk around in a bathing suit. Worth hiking a bit farther to see the top, it looks like something out of a movie!!

the waterfalls are well presented with the entrance just past the bear rescue centre. we were not aware that there is a walk around the falls so did not bring proper walking shoes- we will next time it looked interesting. the water was very cold to swim in and the change rooms minimal. Bring clothing that can be stripped off, with decorum, in public.

Wow this is one of those do not miss things when in Laos.
Don’t leave it to the last minute. Take your time and head over early. The earlier the better so it doesn’t get too busy. The water was amazing for swimming and it’s one of the few places
You are still allowed to swim by the falls.
