We had a wonderful dinner at the Balcony. We opted for the al a carte menu which was lovely. All the courses were fresh, tasty and beautifully presented. The chef from Luxembourg makes a point of using locally sourced ingredients and coming from a Michelin starred restaurant, knows his stuff.
The front of house staff are under the expert guidance of the manager also from Luxembourg.
The service was attentive without being intrusive. They were there when we needed them, but not hovering.
The setting is also great with many tables, you guessed it, on the balcony. It wasn't cold but we did get two small fire pots placed near us to ward off the chill.
The restaurant has a good cause which is to train local Laotians in hospitality, something we are very happy to support.
Don't be put off by the location, 10 minutes from downtown LP, they will collect you and take you home in their tuk tuk. Just call them or have your hotel make a reservation. Highly recommended!
Make sure you bring enough cash as credit cards are not accepted. Three courses with a glass of wine is about $40 per person.
