People are a bit drama queeny about the walk up the "mountain". It really isn't that hard and it's certainly worth the slight sweat. The view is stunning.

We did not know until we arrived in Luang Prubang that between February-March farmers burn their fields to make way for the rainy season and new crops. This results in a white haze of smoke throughout the city's sky, thus good views are very limited. It was really unfortunate to see the city in this haze, but at least the air didn't smell smokey. We didn't find this hike worthwhile.

A friend and I were in Luang Prabang for a visit and decided to stop by Mount Phousi as it was listed as one of the main attractions in LP. We biked over there from our hotel and then took forever to walk up the stairs to get to the top! We made a few stops along the way, mainly because we were quite tired that day itself and it was really hot and humid! The view once you reach the top is very beautiful, I think it would be an even nicer view during sunrise/sunset. Do keep in mind that there is a small fee to pay to enter as well.

Nice views from the top and some interesting temples and sights on the way up. Great sunset views, but way too many tourists up there.

The climb is challenging and takes a while. View from the top is good over the city and river. Sunset is really special as the sun goes down it gives a beautiful reflection off the river, then all off a sudden it disappears behind a mountain. A memorable sight.
