“Good views”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2013

Make sure you give yourself time to walk up one side and come down the other. Easy climb to the top there are seats , take a drink , sit a while and understand the layout of the city.

if you can walk up to the top alone, or in silence, you may experience something close to transcendent.
Snapping away with the I-Phone would be a particular shame.

“A long Walk”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 20, 2013

Perhaps a must go to see place, although it is a long walk upto the top of the sight, but once you reach the top the view is breathtaking, and you see the 2 rivers as they split the city in half

“Nice view of the area.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 15, 2013 via mobile

Phousi Hill isn't amazing when compared to other mountain temples in SE Asia. HOWEVER, it is a nice little jaunt when hanging out in Luang Prabang and I recommend checking it out to get some exercise and great views of the surrounding landscape.

The main entrance is a set of stairs across from the National Museum on the main tourist street (where the night market is). There is an entry fee of 20,000 kip. From there you climb a few hundred stairs through a foresty scene up to the top, which is a small unimpressive temple and a number of viewing platforms with nice views of the city and surrounding landscape.

Sunset can be a nice time to visit for photo ops, but dependig on the day it can also be rather crowded and a struggle to get a decent vantage point to capture the perfect photo.

As others have pointed out, there is more than 1 staircase to the top and I definitely recommend going down a diferent way than you came up.

Overall this place is worth a visit if you are hanging around Luang Prabang, especially if you enjoy climbing stairs and seeing nice views.

“Long walk”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 15, 2013

It's a decent hike up but worth it, we had clear views of the surrounding areas and spent a bit of time getting photos. The shrine at the top is quite nice as well. Would certainly recommend giving it a go.
