Wat Phousi is a temple on the peak of the mountain at Luang Prabang. It is a tiring climb up the mountain but the view from above is pretty amazing. There is a fee for entering this place and the temple at the top of the structure can be considered rather small.

Make sure to take money as the entrance fee is only demanded after you've climbed 170 of the 340 steps. Really good place to see the while town beneath you, we'll worth the climb. Take camera and water

We visited Mt. Phousi twice, once with our guide and and then we returned one evening to try to see sunset. The cloud cover did not make it an especially picturesque experience, but it was nice nonetheless. It costs 20,000 kip (about $2.50 US) to hike to the top, and it really is not that strenuous. Once up top, the view of the city is quite nice and it is worth it. There is a different route to walk down which is rather interesting and passes many buddha statues.

Ideal for sunsets, but very, very, very crowded. It offers great views of Luang Prabang. 20,000k per person. takes about 10 minutes to climb the stairs.

easy accessible from the middle of the city if you can manage the 328 steps (and you should). Great view of the whole city and the areas around.
