“Realy nice stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2011

This hotel is one of my favourites of the trip. The rooms are all clean modern. Rooms are well equipped, big enough and well set out. The hotel is quiet (in a nice way). Fab location, right over night market. Staff are friendly.

When we arrived at the Apsara we where very kindly greated and within a matter of 5 mintues the manager had organized a fantastic day in Luang Prabang for us. We had spent the night on a long bus ride and it was so good to arrive at a place, have a shower and then have everything organized for us. The team where so helpful. We only stayed for one night at the Apsara but it seemed like more because they let us arrive early and check out late.

I stayed for 5 days. I stayed in a standard room and booked the room using agoda and paid 80 dollar per night, including breakfast.
First I think it has spacious room, very spacious bathroom, good shower because of good pressure of the water, very good mattres (if you like it to be very soft).
But the negative feeling is stronger. I think the location is ok but nothing special. I have seen absolutely more beautiful hotels than this one. When I look at the price per night I am very disappointed that the rooms do not have a tv/dvd. I think every guesthouse has one and is much cheaper.
Then the fact that they do not have a shower cap/ spare tooth brush etc. Again I think giesthouses have more in the room that Apsara. The showercap you will certainly need if you do not want your hair to get wet! I contacted the employees (by the way very kind people) and all they could do is listen to me and agree!
For breakfast I had baquette with jam. The jam is not sweet and tastes like something you have never eaten before. Not sweet, a bit sour and just very strange taste for jam.
So overall I absolutely do not think this hotel is worth the 80 dollar per night (and this was the cheapest room at agoda).
I am not sure why Apsara has this great name, at least when I read tripadvisor. Next time I will certainly not stay here because I do not agree with philosopy about what a hotel should offer.

We stayed here at the start of our trip around the Far East. The place was clean with very comfortable beds. The breakfasts were very good and the service was excellent especially by the manager who arranged a guide for us into the hills and to the waterfalls. He really couln't do enough for us.

Loved the service at this hotel. The room itself was very spacious and clean, old world charm, with a balcony overlooking the river on a quieter end of the main street, just behind where you give alms to the monks. It was not "luxurious," but it was darling. Loon (sp?) was so gracious and professional and provided us with recommendations, guided us to renting a longboat on the Mekong down to the caves, arranged our in-room massages, delivered our breakfast with a smile. Our AC was leaking and he had it fixed immediately. Would absolutely recommend this hotel to others. Love this city!

The first and still one of the most beautiful boutique hotels in Luang Prabang, the Apsara was originally a rice warehouse situated on the banks of the Nam Khan [The quieter side of town]. The Apsara is also right in the heart of the heritage village, making it the perfect place to stay. From the comfort of its large, airy bedrooms, rated by the Washington Post as "an inch beyond decadence", it's easy to explore temples and the lanes of Luang Prabang. After which you can relax on the river terrace and enjoy the spectacular views and a refreshing Beer Laos. But that's not all, our restaurant is well known for having one of the most interesting menus in town as well as a superb wine list and the driest martinis in Laos. As Hip Hotels said "Both the restaurant and bar reflect a refined sense of taste" and who are we to argue with that. ... more   less
