“Nice place to visit for a few hours of jungle hiking”
Reviewed January 6, 2014

We went to the waterfalls during the week and were the only people there. We were happy about that as it meant we didn't have to contend with lots of people.

There is a 20'000 kip entry fee per person.

The jungle area was really lovely to walk through although it was sometimes disappointing to see the amount of rubbish that had been carelessly left behind by people!. Be careful and wear good shoes as a lot of the walking tracks are in a bad state of disrepair and it is easy to trip over or fall! Some of the bridges across the small ravines, are broken so walking over is much like being on a tightrope. But this all added to our intrepid adventure and we quite enjoyed that aspect of the walk!

Due to the season, the waterfalls were not full of water although they were still very pleasant to look at.

At the entrance to the falls, there is a small restaurant and toilet facilities. There is also a lake that you can picnic beside or even swim in.

All in all, a nice day out and recommended if you are in Luang Prabang.

“Nice End to a Great Walk”
Reviewed January 6, 2014

We rode elephants then hiked though the waterfall trail back to our boat--this ended at the Tad Sae Waterfall where we stopped and got a quick beer before moving on.
A bit commercial, not sure if I'd go here just for the park, but it was a great end for our elephant ride--on elephants rescued from the logging industry--and a grand hike.

“Follow the trail for higher pools”
Reviewed January 5, 2014

Tad Sae are beautiful and on top of that one can fill a day with activities like elephant riding, elephant bathing, zip lining or just enjoying the pool and therefore it attracts many people.

It is best to go earlier, as the tourist groups can make it feel too crowded. If you are interested in zip lining or elephant activities, purchase them right away at the entrance and you will be informed what time they are available. Please note that if you would like to bath an elephant, it really does not take more then 10 minutes, not the advertised 20, but it is still quite fun to sit on top of the back of this giant while he dips in the water.

If you have extra time, follow the trail on right toward to upper pools, after just few hundred meters you will have the upper for yourself. The trail is quite slippery and not too well maintained, but we did not mind and walked for good hour one way along the upper pools, river and did not meet a single person.

The lower pools were crowded, some people jumping others just dipping in the cool water.
All in all the day was very enjoyable.

I recommend taking the river boat over to this. You can swim, zip line, eat great food, and enjoy the magical waterfalls here.

Reviewed January 1, 2014

There is a nice ppol to swim... but we didn't do it because it was too cold when we were there (but still many people did).
