“One of the World's wonders”
Reviewed March 26, 2013

The more one explores the Wats of Luang Prabang the more spellbound one becomes. Xieng Thong is to me the most beautiful. See it both in the early morning and late afternoon.... the sunlight filters so differently at those times and the buildings simply glimmer with beauty. Less of us tourists as well! This is a very holy place.

“Another Exquisite Structure of Buddhist Devotion”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

My wife and I visited three Wats while we were in Luang Prabang. I wrote a review of the first one (Wat Mai). I requested the second place (Wat Visoun) be added so I could review it.

Following is a review of the third Wat we visited. The location is near the end of the peninsula where the Mekong and Nam Khan Rivers join. Again, beautifully decorated buildings and interiors await the visitor. One structure contains what looks to be gold-leaf covered naga-headed boats or wagons that have a funerary function. Other contents in the building include Buddhas and other beautifully-decorated and carved objects, some of which look to be built in the form of glass mosaics. Other buildings on the site also have beautiful interiors, and one has an exterior wall with glass mosaic artwork in the form of a tree of life. Other outdoor walls also include glass mosaics that stun the eye of the beholder, with their intricacy and beauty. If you are speechless after seeing these masterpieces of religious Buddhist devotion, you will not be alone!

“Beautiful temple.”
Reviewed March 21, 2013

Currently being restored inside but what graceful Eastern architecture this is. We really enjoyed our stay in Luang Prabang where the people are as graceful as the temple!

“Just beautiful”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

If you only visit one temple in Luang Prabang, this should be the one, if only for the mosaics. Absolutely stunning with so much intricate detail. The gardens were very pretty also, extremely wel kept and we helped a small group of monks with their english lesson being given by one of the american visitors, which was a fun experience

“Worth a visit”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

Despite visits to many Wats in Laos, this one is still worth a visit. The architectural details are just so great that you have to view them in slow motion so as not to miss out something. Do spend some times here understanding their cultures and architectures and religions, it's worth it.
