My review of the Three Nagas is somewhat difficult. I can see the potential of the hotel but sadly had many problems while staying there.

Although I had booked months in advance, I arrived to find a major refurbishment going on. Due to the building work I had to change rooms but the staff were responsive. I encountered several other problems which eventually culminated in a morning coffee with the new manager who was a thorough professional.

To those thinking about booking, the location is fantastic and the rooms clean. I would read other reviews from guests who have stayed after the refurbishment has been done and the new owners and management a chance to prove their worth.

For those of you with a room on the upper floor, please think about the people in the rooms below you as you walk about on the beautiful wooden floors with your shoes on. I had an upper floor but tried to think of the other guests.

I will return to Laos but am still undecided about returning to the Three Nagas but think ultimately I will go back in search of the experience that made me book there in the first place.

Dear avalon8,

Thank you very much for your comment.

A refurbishment is always a special period to manage for a hotel and I can imagine that unfortunately everything didn't go as well as it is normally.

We hope to see you again so you can experiment the hotel at its best.

Best regards,

The 3 Nagas is a small boutique hotel. It's a pleasing older hotel with a garden that's been renovated recently. We stayed in La Residence Phou Vao in February and loved Luang Prabang so much we had to return. We chose to stay at the 3 Nagas this time because it is so centrally located that you can walk everywhere. La Residence is out of town, more expensive, but it does have a swimming pool. The 3 Nagas is not as glamorous as La Residence but it does have more old world charm. Unfortunately the renovations were still being completed when we were there, so the restaurant was closed. However there are great restaurants close by ( Apsara hotel, The Elephant, Tamarind and others), so we didn't go hungry. The staff were helpful but have a limited amount of English. Recommended.

Dear Chantman,

Thank you for your comment.

We are happy to know that you chose us for your second visit of Luang Prabang.

Let me tell you that we are now providing English classes to our staff and as guests say it works quite well.

We hope to see you again soon so you can try our typical Lao Restaurant.

Best regards,

Recently spent 4 enjoyable nights at 3 Nagas. It is at the higher end of the price range but not the most expensive. Very good location at the quieter end of the main street.

Rooms tastefully decorated and clean, good breakfast-only downside is noise on ground floor rooms from guests above on the wooden floors-it sounded like they were training a baby elephant every morning between 5.30 and 7.00!Best ask for an upper floor room.

Don't bother requesting the vintage Merc transfer it's permanently parked outside the hotel as street furniture .You will be sent the hotel shuttle bus which costs the same as the Merc and it is cheaper to take a taxi from the rank outside the airport.

We are happy to know that you enjoyed your stay.

Concerning the noise of the wooden floor, we will renovate the hotel this year and take a special care of this problem.

We cannot recommend the 3 Nagas enough. We stayed for a week in July and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is at the quieter end of the town. The monks walk past on their alms walk every morning. The staff are helpful and arranged several outings for us. Yes it might be more expensive than some other accommodation in the town but on an international basis it is excellent value for money. We had an upstairs room which we inreservedly recommend. It had a wonderful balcony for relaxing.

We chose the 3 Nagas from its description on Agoda's website. This hotel is located on the main road through the old town of Luang Prabang and is split into two separate buildings on either side of the road, which building you are in makes a big difference. We were fortunate to be in the quieter building. It is a restored Laotian town house with teakwood floors and walls overlooking a beautiful garden.
There is a good restaurant within the hotel but the town has plenty of excellent earing places, breakfast is taken in the garden across the road (not much fun when it is wet!!)
Overall we found the staff helpful and the rooms are well kept with an evening turn down. The small reception area offered free internet
use.
It is quite expensive for Laos and there are many very good home style rooms at much cheaper prices, but if you want something special this is the place to go.

Dear Grumpylady,

Thank you for this comment.

Since your stay the hotel changed a bit and now you can take your breakfast where you want in the garden, the terrace or inside so no more problem with wet weather.

We hope to see you again soon
