“Well worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2014

I have been to this Museum on both occasions I have visited Luang Prabang, and theres always something new to see, the staff there will try and help you as much as they can with their broken english, but it is worth going to and getting an insight into the royal family.

“interesting stuff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2014

The museu has lots of interesting things, like gifts given by ambassadors and kings from other countries. It has beautifully decorated rooms and you will be able to 'feel' the admiracion the people had for their king.

“a historic place for Laos - a must in Luang Prabang!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2014

Talking about the Royal Palace, I am rather talking about the whole site, especially the beautiful gardens with its views up Phousi and the wonderful temple like building that houses the 'prabang', situated in the night market corner.
At the moment - until February 16, 2014 - there is an interesting exhibition in the back of the museum facing the Mekong. The exhibition shows a lot of photos and a few buddha statues all concerning 'cultural preservation projects in Laos'. It is free! (in contrast to the museum)
Standing in front of the building, walk around to the left.
Also have a look at the last king's cars and carriages.

“A time filler!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2014

We really found this museum more basic than we expected- The displays were well presented but many spread out over a large area. many historical items from recent kings but not a great deal to offer!

“Very interesting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2014 via mobile

This museum gives an interesting glimpse of royal life. The collection is well presented and the temple is beautiful. Make sure you do your reading about the royal family and their fate before you see the museum, as there is no context or explanations provided at the site.
