“Delicious lao bbq! Why such a bad review from others?”

2 locations, right off a side street by the cultural arts center or also by the Mekong riverfront (where we ate). I presume the other poor reviews came from people who did not order the Lao BBQ. We had one order of this which was delicious... Similar to Mongolian BBQ or shabu shabu, where a bed of hot coals heats a metal bowl filled with hot water that becomes soup as you fill it with vegetables and absorbs the run off from meat you grill yourself. I also ordered a curry dish that was quite ordinary and a shame that we did not just load up with more meat for the BBQ. At 40,000kip for the bbq really quite worth it (only 25,000kip more for an extra plate of meat). A nice experience right by the Mekong!

I was looking for fresh juices to go with my meal, and had left two other restaurants who told me upfront they did not have fresh, only botteld juices.
Phousi restaurant had a board saying : healthy fruit juices here, so I decided to have dinner there.
I asked what fresh juice they had and they said only lemmon and orange. I orderd orange and steamed fish on banana leaf.
They first brought the juice - BOTTLED juice in a liquor cup, not even enough for me to enjoy it. When the food arrived, another disappointment. The "steamed" fish wa sprobably lots of different fish left overs, stuck together and over spiced ( what really makes me think it is left overs for other people's plates, as the condiments did not taste well together.

It was very abd and I ate the steamed rice ( they charged separatelly) and left.

NOT A GOOD PLACE AT ALL.

We ate one night at the Phousi Guest House restaurant. The service was horrible and a couple of clients left before ordering or receiving their food. The food was below average and the worst we had in Laos so far. During our meal we also heard a client complaining about a dirty room. In summary avoid this place.
