One of the best resorts I have been to in the recent times..The ambiance of the resort is very scenic and serene..totally lives up to the expectation of a 4 star resort...must stay if ur going to luang prabang..

We have just returned from a stay at Santi Resort - we had also stayed in another, less expensive, guesthouse in Luang Prabang, and the Santi Resort did not compare quite as favourably.
We had booked a "junior suite" - on the Santi resort website when we booked it stated that the room included a sofa that can be made up into a queen sized bed. This, together with the word "suite", led us to believe that the suite comprises two rooms, one for the children to sleep in (on the sofa bed) and the other for us to sleep in. However, when we were shown to our "junior suite", it became clear this was only a room - they had moved the main bed over and squeezed in one single camp bed. As we have two children, I asked where the second would stay - housekeeping turned up with another single camp bed - however, if this was also put into the room, there would have been very little floor space left.
I called the front desk and we were transferred to an actual suite, for no extra cost. Two camp beds were set up in the sitting room (NB there is no sofa bed in these rooms either). Note that the hotel did not have mosquito nets that could cover the camp beds - for children's sleeping arrangements in a malarial area, this is not acceptable. There were huge numbers of mosquitos in the room, so we asked housekeeping to spray the room twice, which got rid of the majority.
(Note that the Santi resort website has since been amended to state the following "Our Junior Suite equipped with Double bed is inclusive of: Private Balcony, (Make in to queen bed)" but what this is intended to mean is not clear). The junior suite is not a SUITE, but a ROOM.
Breakfast was buffet style and included cereals, an omelette/fried egg station, a noodle station, salads, breads and pastries (and toaster), as well as bacon/cooked ham/hotdog-style sausages etc.
There is a swimming pool, which seemed well maintained but was quite cold.
The grounds are stunning - really beautiful.

Room Tip: The junior suite is a ROOM, not a suite.

From the moment the free shuttle picked us up from the airport to when they dropped us at the bus station a week later, nothing could have been more perfect. The hotel is set in amazing grounds, which are immaculately maintained, with outstanding views from every angle. The rooms are very well equipped to a high western standard, with robes and slippers and tea making facilities. The restaurant caters for every taste and the food is of a high standard and not expensive. The buffet breakfast, complete with egg and noodle station, should satisfy even the fussiest of eaters. Without exception, ever member of staff, from the General Manager down, always have genuine warm smiles on their faces and go out of their way to make your stay a happy and memorable one. The swimming pool is large, with plenty of sun beds and towels and a poolside bar. We spent Christmas there and the effort the staff put in to decorating the resort for a gala dinner on Christmas Eve went far and beyond anything we have experienced in a western hotel. Some might say the location is a bit remote as the hotel is situated about 15 minutes from the centre of town. However, there are relatively frequent free shuttles between the resort and their sister hotel in town and back so we did not find this a problem and the location actually added to our experience.

Room Tip: The suites looked very nice, although we were more than happy with our room on the ground floor. The...

Stayed here for 4 nights over Christmas. One of the few places I've stayed where the reality was actually better than the pictures on the hotel's website.

The setting is really beautiful, about a 10 minute drive from the city centre. The hotel's huge grounds are extremely well-maintained and lovely to walk around.

I booked a junior suite which was lovely;very spacious, beautifully furnished with a big balcony overlooking the grounds and the mountains in the distance. The only criticism of the room is the thinness of the walls between the rooms - on the last night I was there a family arrived next door (with a small, noisy child in tow) and I could hear every cough, sneeze, visit to the toilet, conversation etc. etc.Maybe the hotel needs to improve the soundproofing between the rooms (or perhaps it was just an especially noisy family)

A big buffet breakfast with all the usual offerings was included - very nice apart from the nasty, synthetic orange 'juice' (it definitely hadn't been anywhere near an orange)

The staff were friendly and helpful, especially the Spanish lady at reception (Guest Relations manager?) who was particularly nice.

Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place- I paid $135 per night which I thought was good value for money.

Our second visit to this hotel - 4 years apart, it just gets better with the lush and restful allure of grounds so rich in colors; something Monet would have loved to paint if he had visited. This time we stayed in #803 a suite facing the green vegetable gardens and padi field and with a glimpse of the neighboring village. A village gong softly chimes at 7am each morning heralding a perfect morning. All rooms have a balcony with a view so you really cannot go wrong with any room. The only restaurant Torseng in the main reception villa has panoramic views of the grounds, so the ambience is always great for breakfast and dinner. Dining is great with fresh fish and vegetables or local specialties. Breakfast offering is ample and satisfactory. The 30m pool is a little old but clean with an attentive barman. The gym is very small but new ; my husband prefers the natural trek through the village on his 15km run up the hill with surprising views at every turn. We rate the service throughout the hotel a 10 out of 10. Free shuttle return service to/from airport and shuttle runs every two hours to their sister property in town Villa Santi. A tip: settle your bill in cash at USD (dollars) or face unfavorable exchange rate if paid in local currency Kip and/or credit card fees. We will be back in 2013!

Room Tip: All deluxe rooms have a balcony and have a great view of green verdant grounds. Rooms are on two fl...

The hotel is set in lovely grounds which made a pleasant change as most of our hotels had been in cities. Very nice pool and very comfortable rooms. We were a bit concerned about the distance to town but a combination of the hotel's shuttle bus and very reasonably priced tul-tuks made it no problem. The town is great to wander around in the evening and has the usual range of places to eat. A word of warning - very slippery underfoot in the outside areas. After one serious incident they did pressure wash some areas which they claimed to do regularly but it had obviously not been done recently.
