Owner description: Trekking, kayaking, cycling, rock climbing, community immersion are some of the highlights Luang Prabang has to offer. Multiple-day treks to the remotest places are rewarding as is the direct contact with people of the forest still deeply immersed in their distinct, centuries old traditions.

“Pak Ou Buddha Caves feedback”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2013

We did the Buddha Cave tour. It was actually really expensive for what it was and they justify the price by telling you that they will visit authentic villages on the way which they don't because they just take you too touristy fake villages where they try and sell you things. They also provide lunch but it was a cheap set menu and everyone else around us was eating really lovely local food. To be honest, just hire a boat independently or find a group and hire a boat to make the trip, there are loads of long boats looking for business. It will be much faster and cheaper. Also if you want an authentic village experience just catch the ferry over the river from LP, its only 3000 Kip each and so much more interesting than any of the villages on the tour. You can also visit all the Wats along the river overlooking Luang Prabang. We kicked ourselves for falling in to another tourist trap.

“Feel mis-sold but maybe we were just naive”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 29, 2012 via mobile

We signed up for a bike tour, going to local villages, off main roads in rural luang prabang. The other people on the tour were promised am adrenaline filled day of mountain biking, not fussed about seeing villages. So we weren't a great match. Whilst the tour was good value and we saw some fantastic sights, it was just too hard for us. 44km through muddy hilly tracks in 33 degree heat wasn't really our idea of fun. We should have asked more questions before signing up really and others probably got annoyed having to wait for slower people. So just be 100 percent sure u know what u are signing up for!! Only for the very fit'

“Well worth the price!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2012

We signed up for an all day trekking, elephant riding and waterfall tour. We waited until there were a few other participants as the tour becomes cheaper with more people signing up for it. The tour was amazing. Our guide was pretty good. The elephant trek was awesome. I'd done a trek before in Thailand but the Elephants here in Laos were much better treated. The path is also pristine jungle, not a touristy elephant ride on some pre-determined trail. WE literally blazed our own trail through the jungle. The trekking was pretty miserable as it was the rainy season and the mud made the entire thing pretty miserable. By the end of the two hour trek I was bleeding, sore and with a huge smile on my face. If you want to see REAL jungle, this is the way to go.

“Wonderful People”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2012

Green Discovery staff made my visit to Luang Prabang enjoyable and delightful! I spent a day on the Mekong River visiting craftspeople in villages, an amazing Buddhist shrine in a cave, and a riverside restaurant with excellent food! The price was reasonable and our guide was knowledgeable. Thank you Green Discovery!
