Recommended length of visit: More than 3 hours
Owner description: La Pistoche Swimming Pools and Bars is the only private and public swimming pools in Luang Prabang. It is a complex of 4 swimming pools, 2 small one with water toys for kids and 2 bigger one for everybody. The 2 bigger swimming pools have 2 bars, one jaccuzzi and a small slide. If you are looking for a refreshing break from the heat, after sightseeing or an exhausting bicycle tour, jump into our pools and enjoy delicious cocktails. Away from the tourist traffic, you can find us nestled within a typical Lao Neighborhood in Ban Phong Pheng Village. We offer Happy Hours on Cocktails from noon to 7 pm. It cost 30,000 kips per persons (adults and kids) for entrance fee and you have to leave a deposit of 50,000 kips that will be refunded to you if you dont drink or eat anything, or will be substracted from your bill. Please be aware that in hot season, we do have a lots of locals, specially on Saturday and Sunday. Which means a lots of kids! We love the fact that foreigners and locals laotians can mix together. However, if you are looking for a very quiet place, we don t suggest our place. In hot season, there are some hotels that let visitors go. Also, be aware that week ends are very very busy. We suggest that you come early, we open at 10 am, if you wish to have some quiet time. Just a small note, we also have a lot of backpackers, some families have made some complains about this. Up to now, the backpackers that comes to the pool have been very kids friendly. My 7 years old daughter always end up making new friends that throw her up in the air. We also have a lots of Lao families. We do have free wi-fi, but we are not an internet cafe, so it is possible that our internet doesn t work... We priorize people having fun together and chatting together, than playing with their internet!!! Hope you enjoy!

“Sweet place to chill out and cool down!”
Reviewed June 15, 2014

It's only a short bike ride from the main market road and it's a perfect place for travellers and backpackers to chill out and relax. Theres 2 bars and 2 pools, the main pool has a bar you can sit at while your swimming. There's plenty of sun beds, chairs and hang out spots around the pool and they serve a range of good food and yummy cocktails! On the weekends some locals kids do a break dancing show on the deck which was awesome! You do pay 20,000 kip as well as a tab deposit of 50,000 kip (70,000kip total) so when you order your drinks and food it just gets taken out of your tab and whatever you don't spend you get back when you leave, simple and easy!

“Nice but a bit far”

Nice swimming pool with great child out atmosphere. Perfect during a hot day...
Drinks end-up being pricy as it's all on tab and that you end up drinking a lot...

“Hip spot”
Reviewed May 31, 2014

This is a very cool place to spend a day. 2 large swimming pools, a swim up bar, food and snacks - people are friendly and it's a good place to mingle.

There is a 20,000 Kip entrance fee. If you bring a bike they encourage you to park in the 2000 Kip parking just outside. In reality, one can easily walk from the central Luang Prabang (or take a Tuk Tuk for tired feet travelers. It's about a 30 - 40 minute walk from the central Mekong River).

Drinks are reasonably priced, as is the local food. Western options are a little more pricey (just as anywhere in town).

Tourists are pretty open to mingling, and you can easily meet a few people to play some water volleyball, or a game of cards, or just to jibber-jabber at the swim up pool bar.

Very cool vibe - very well run facility.

It seems as though (maybe this was a low season thing) when school was out, many kids came in to enjoy the pool. It wasn't a nuisance at all - they just blended in - but were certainly playing as kids do :)

A must do on a 'chill-out' day in Luang Prabang
