Owner description: Spend a morning on ourLIVING RICE FARM,Come and let us show you how rice is grown on our farm, experience the life of a farmer and try your hand at some of the activities. Or just view it all from the comfort of our traditional Lao rice house balcony, which is surrounded by rice terraces and our organic vegetable farm. All the family can join in and there are great photo opportunities. Our converted rice barn offers simple but comfortable accommodation for two, overlooking rice fields and mountains. Relax on the terrace and sample some of our home-brewed rice wine, walk to the ruined temple through our rice farm, be pampered with a massage then have afternoon tea, visit the local weavers who make our farm outfits before joining our farm family for a game of petanque or rattan ball! Watch or join in the preparation of the Lao dinner then dine with our farm family before you retire for the night (maybe after a Beer Lao or two?). Wake up to a brand new day and a typical Lao breakfast before joining the Rice Experience for the morning

“Amazing and fun experience”
Reviewed March 4, 2014 via mobile

Four women from Canada enjoyed a fabulous farming experience with Mr. Lao Lee this morning. His farm follows the Laotian organic traditions and gives visitors a hands on experience that is both informative and great fun. We ploughed the rice field with Suzuki the water buffalo and planted the rice in the paddies. We beat the rice from the stalks, cleaned and ground the rice. We made a refreshing drink from sugar cane and a squeeze of lime. A beautiful vegetable garden was toured and then we had a nutritious and filling lunch on the veranda. Thank you Mr. Lao Lee for your energy that made this a highlight for us.

Could not have been more entertained by Mr. Lee while he explained the rice growing process! Amazing how the process is both simple and complicated. Beautiful setting and hands on experience. Highly recommend. Great for all ages.

“A great experience!”
Reviewed January 22, 2014 via mobile

Having travelled around Asia and seen so many rice paddies and the locals working on them it was brilliant to learn exactly how the process works and to have a go at every stage ourselves! My personal highlight has to be having a go at ploughing the field with the water buffalo!

“Who knew such a simple grain could be so complicated?!”
Reviewed January 10, 2014

Two months traveling through SE Asia and nearly a year later, this place still ranks way up at the top of everything we did. Such an incredible education. Such an entertaining and informative presentation. Charming to the very end. I particularly loved working the plow behind Susan, The amazing water buffalo. Mr. Lee is so bright and genuine, it would be very difficult to give this place anything less than five stars. Go organic!
