“Excellent place for a variety of dishes”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2013

Stopped here because we saw they had Indian food, which I wanted, and various other types of dishes, one of which she wanted.

The staff spoke perfect English, and had plenty of time to chat with us, as they had only just opened when we showed up, also in the slow season. The food took a bit of time, but was prepared perfectly.

We went to the small deli-sized place on Sisavanvong Road (I guess there's a different location). The Indian dish I had was deliciously prepared, and I would have returned the next day if we didn't have to leave.

Thank you. The owners are a Lao and an Indian and I am American. We love living in Luang Prabang and want you to enjoy your time in this lovely relaxed town. As travelers ourselves, we know that sometimes contemplative downtime is an important part of the journey, and we try to provide a space for that to happen for you. As travelers we also like food from all over the world and that is reflected in our menu. Thanks again for the nice review.

“Peaceful environment & great writing/reading atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2013

Pilgrim's Cafe is conveniently located right off the night market. The air conditioned building and quiet atmosphere offer a great escape from the daily heat. As a travel blogger, I loved coming here for my daily work compared to the rambunctious atmosphere of the typical hostel.

I didn't eat any meals so can't vibe for that but I asked neighbors and they said it was delicious. Order a cup of the local Lao coffee, mocha style. It's delicious!

Thanks for the nice review. Since your visit we have opened outside seating, with a dramatic backdrop of the Royal Palace Temple from the side seating and Mount Phousy gardens from the front seating. And of course all the people watching and Luang Prabang passing by that you care to absorb. Second floor seating with windows of the same views, will open at the end of September.

“The Espresso!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2013 via mobile

Stopped by there after walking along the night market. Air-conditioned though a bit quiet.

The staff is friendly and communicate well in English. Fast service with the best espresso! Don't miss that!

Yes the Espresso!!! It's the basis for all of our fabulous coffee drinks. Hot. Iced. Frappe. With caramel. With chocolate. Or all by itself. Our coffee is grown and roasted in Luang Prabang. They used to grow opium but now the hill tribes are producing coffee that is fair trade certified.

“Air Conditioned Oasis!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2013

There are two locations in Luang Prabang. We went to the one on Sisavanvong Road just north of the museum complex. It's on a corner and a bit easy to miss as it is small. They have air conditioning... a true blessing in the heat of July! Their menu is quite diverse with a bit of Western, Italian, Mexican, Mediterranean and Indian. We came here often to get out of the heat, have a lemonade, use the wifi and have a bite to eat. The brownie is to-die for!!! An absolute must-have! The staff are very friendly and speak excellent English. You can usually find some tourists in here playing board/card games (staff have some behind the counter). Give it a try!

“Tasty enchilladas”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2013

I went here looking for either Indian or Mexican food and I could have had either. In the end I went for the enchilladas, which were not really much like genuine Mexican enchilladas, but they were absolutely delicious and tasted Mexican-ish so I was very happy. The service was very good. The photo here looks nothing like the place I went to, so maybe there are two branches of this place? Hard to imagine more than one place called Pilgrims Cafe that does enchilladas in LP.
