“Massive portions, good food, dark beer...”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

If your super hungry this is one of the best spots to grind in Luang Prabang. Large pours on the wine and one of the few places that serves tha ABC Stout. Cool location at the street side bar, good for people watching and close to other night club locations.

Thankyou for your review. We are delighted that you enjoyed our food. We believe that we serve the biggest meals in Luang Prabang. All meals are styled on "Aussie Pub Grub" which means large portions of simple freshly cooked foods. We look forward to your return for another ABC stout.

Reviewed April 3, 2013

Aussie bar has very good pizzas and is a a good place to watch western sports on television. Other items on their menu are also good. Conveniently located.

“Stoked!”
Reviewed April 3, 2013 via mobile

Had the pleasure of stopping for a beer or two here on several occasions. Was tempted by the menu which had fantastic options for some home style grub. The steak sandwich was faultless, the meat tender, the toast cooked perfectly and the salad ingredients fresh. It hit the spot for lunch. Husband had the sausage rolls which were flavoursome and moorish.
On another visit we were tempted yet again. This time hubby having the chicken parmigiana which was as good as in any pub back home, only cheaper. :-p
I opted for the Kokoda stew/curry. Omg! It was fantastic. Large in portion, hearty and full of yummy goodness! ( thanks for the recipe, John).
On every visit the staff were warm and welcoming and Johns knowledge and recommendations were spot on.
Thank you!

Thankyou for your very kind review. We are happy that you enjoyed our Restaurant & Bar facilities, cold beer and good food. The Kakadu Stew sells very well and I hope your attempt to make it is successful. Maybe you could PM to me your dipping sauce recipe. We look forward to your return in the future.

“Disappointing”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

Having read the reviews here on TA, we came here expecting some quality Aussie tucker. The food turned out to be very ordinary - the meat in the pies was poor quality Lao beef, although the pastry just about passed muster.

To be frank, the owner seemed not to care much anyway.

But at least the beer was cold

Thankyou for your contribution. Similar review to the previous, both from Vientiane, maybe one joint review would have sufficed. Yes the pie is made with Lao Beef and is hugely popular with our customers although there is occasionally the odd person who does not like it. Matter of personal taste I guess. We have many customers (ex-pat and lao) that come from Vientiane and laud our pies as the best they have tasted! Your comment (similar to the other from VTE) about the owner not caring too much is a bit laughable as I am always on hand if there are any issues or something that you are not happy about.

“Overpriced”
Reviewed March 5, 2013

"The beer is cold" - well yes as it ought to be, but why is it 50% more expensive than an equally cold beer at many of the riverside establishments which have much better views and ambiance?

Found the proprietor to be rather cold also.

Thankyou for your review. We are pleased that you found the beer to be cold. As for pricing we are exactly the same price for beer as other establishments in this immediate area. The riverside establishments may be able to sell cheaper beer because they have little overheads and are generally family run with little or no labour cost and virtually no rental costs. Fortunately 99.9% of our customers hold a different view to you and enjoy the ice cold beer with ice buckets and frosted glasses whilst they watch the world go by. We always try to please our customers but unfortunately there are always the odd one we cannot.
