Kiridara
Ranked #13 of 68 Hotels in Luang Prabang
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed September 14, 2012

In my opinion one of the best properties in Luang Prabang. This property is the most family friendly (in my mind). Will be a year old in June 2013. Boutique 4* resort. Free wifi. Kiridara have the option of Interconnecting with their Superior and Deluxe rooms. This allows the rooms to be extremely spacious for families, 2 bathrooms, 2 balconies, 2 bedrooms & 1 sitting area.

Kiridara has spectacular views from the mountains edge. With a fantastic restaurant, pool and pool bar (serving all day snacks, sandwiches, burgers etc).

For elderly people, must request a room on the bottom floor as there is a vast amount of stairs. But this was the case for many properties in Luang Prabang.

All rooms are modern, clean and brand new. All with fantastic views and large bathrooms.

I this this property is the most universal property in Luang Prabang! Can't fault this hotel at all, and I will definitely return!!

We stayed with our 2 teenage children at Kiridara in August.
On arrival we were whisked a short distance from the airport in the hotel
shuttle to be greeted by Francis (Manager). I had expected a
larger hotel but it was quite discreet set in the hillside.
The design is modern and comfortable and decorated with the
most beautiful Lao textiles.
We stayed for six nights so had time to relax by the pool and enjoy very
excellent spa treatments. Refreshing bael tea was served to us by the spa staff
after each gym workout!
The staff at the hotel are calm, friendly and efficient.
The hotel staff booked a car for our trip to the lovely waterfalls close to
Luang Prabang, a relaxing trip on the Mekong River, cooking courses and textile courses.
There was a hotel tuk-tuk and bicycles which we rode into town many times.
The food and drinks were delicious in the restaurants and by the pool.
A wonderful retreat.

We had a memorable 3 nights stay in Kiridara hotel & loved everything about it. We were 5 persons & booked 3 rooms. First, the check in was soft & quick. We didn’t like the first room we had because the balcony was right in front of the pool & I didn’t feel comfortable with seeing people while in my room, when we asked about a change of room or an upgrade, because most of rooms were taken, it was quickly taken care of & we ended up having a free upgrade to suite number 20 only 5 minutes later. We fell in love with the view from the room & it was much bigger with a huge bathroom.
We found the hotel to be quite unique, with its lovely grounds & swimming pool. There were many stairs since we were on the very top right next to the SPA, but we never felt it was a burden. They have a free shuttle &tuk tuk you can use to go anyplace in town, & they even come to pick you up.
The breakfast was always a delight; the service was great all along, & the food very diverse, very tasty & artistically presented. We really enjoyed it. The restaurant itself is quite small with a great view, but we actually never found any problem getting a place.
We also tried the SPA, they had a great 2 hours package for $40 & we really enjoyed it.
We visited the Residence Phou Vao by Orient-Express for dinner one night, & were glad & very contented we picked the Kiridara hotel & its exceptional staff. All in all, to me, the perfect hotel in town.

We stayed at Kiridara for 5 nights hoping to see the best of LP. We were pleasantly surprised at how amazing our hotel actually was.

Pros:
- Room - free upgrade to deluxe, spacious and well lit
- Bed - the most comfortable in SE Asia
- Amenities - Toilet and shower separate. Amazing jacuzzi tub
- Breakfast - Included a la carte with TONS of delicious options
- Transport - free drop off/pick up in town, saved us $ and hassle with tuk tuk drivers
- Pool - Perfect temperature and great whirlpool
- Freebies - Poolside snacks, drinks and mini massages - just for being a customer!
- Service - Great english, helped with directions, always helpful
- Gym - simple and clean gym with water and towels provided

We did not use the spa, but I imagine it would be excellent as well. Our mini-massage was. We spoke to the owner every day. He made sure our trip was everything we wanted it to be. He always suggested things to do and how to do them.

At $100ish per night, it can seem steep, but it really is worth it. I'm SO glad we booked this hotel, especially after the horrific bus ride from Vang Vieng. I would recommend this for everyone who can afford it: families, couples, solo travellers or anyone looking for an elegant and relaxing hotel to stay at.

Room Tip: All rooms are great from what we've seen.

We stayed at the Kiridara for two weeks during July 2012. At first we were concerned that two weeks would be too long, well it wasn't. I have never been made to feel more welcome at a hotel. From our arrival and guided tour of the hotel to the wonderful and well priced spa treatments our stay was a pure pleasure. The staff are extremely friendly and all the managers and main staff take time each day to chat with you and make you feel welcome and at home. The rooms are beautifully designed and layed out and a pleasure to spend time in whether it is in your private garden or on your balcony. The pool area is lovely with a stunning view across the mountains and town. The food was delicious. We had dinner twice and were not disappointed. Breakfast is from an al a carte menu and fresh juice and coffee/tea made to order, a very civilised way to start the day and so much nicer than the usual buffet rush. The hotel is a 15 to 20 minute walk from the main street however there is a complimentary tuk tuk and also free bikes which are also available and we never found the location to be an issue, in fact we saw it as a plus. When we had a problem with our suitcase handle breaking the the staff took it away and got it fixed without the slightest bother. A big thank you Francis the Manager and Roberto the Head Chef in particular who made this a real holiday to remember. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Living here is how you would like home to be. Elegant dark wood furniture in the rooms, tiffany colored textiles, and woven details make for comfy rooms. The toilet is a separate room for the shower room and that is just one nice detail. The pool is the central part of the hotel. Apple, the Thai massage therapist who runs the spa, is one of the best massage therapists in the world. The spa includes basalt bathtubs that make clawfoot tubs so passe. The hotel also has mountain bikes that you can borrow for free. The town in small so you can enjoy a bike ride to the French bakery. The hotel does not bake as well as the French bakery but perfection is not always just a goal. On the other hand, the breakfast includes the option of Asian style breakfast which is good. Plus, the presentation of the yogurt is quintessentially Kiridara.

The hotel rooms are beautiful and clean, with the softest feather beds. In addition to making up the room every morning, there was also turn-down service while we were out in the evening. The staff was beyond helpful. The complimentary breakfast was delicious, especially the eggs benedict. I have absolutely zero complaints! I almost cried when it was time to check out!!
