Luang Prabang Paradise Resort

A lovely resort made up of neat villas in pretty gardens. Our room was very large, with a similarly generous bathroom, featuring a deep tub that kept our 4 year old as happy as the swimming pool did! Fitted and furnished in wood with a huge four poster, soft white bedlinen and all necessary mod cons (kettle, fridge, TV, safe). Staff were charming, friendly and very helpful. We borrowed bikes for the 10 minute ride into Luang Prabang, or took the hotel's free shuttle, which runs back and forth four times daily. Fresh fruit and salads, eggs cooked to order and delicious bread on the breakfast buffet. Very highly recommended.

This was our first trip to LPB for 6 years and so we were ready for a shock but it was a really nice place. Not over priced and good staff to make us feel friendly. We liked the food and Laos is not renowned for food so we were happy. The place is close enough in a small town to get about. The only negative thing was a noisy honeymoon couple in the room next to us and we asked to be moved the next day but that can happen anywhere and we hope they enjoyed themselves after we had moved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Try the place if you come here and ask for a quiet non smoking room.

Room Tip: All rooms seem to be good

We stayed at this resort for 6 nights. We arrived late in the evening and were greeted by a friendly member of staff. We liked our room (riverside view). It was clean and had everything we needed. We ate a delicious meal at the restaurant which was open until late. The breakfasts were substantial and we rarely needed lunch. Being close to a local Wat or being under the flight path was never a problem with regards to noise. The TV reception was fine except one night. There was free wifi which was hit and miss but we were also able to use a PC at reception for internet browsing. We met the owner who was most happy to show us around. The staff were friendly and courteous and always willing to please. We used the free shuttle a few times which was very handy. When we walked into town it took us about 20 minutes via the bamboo bridge. Everything is within walking distance and we especially enjoyed visiting Wat Xieng Thong. We mainly ate at a restaurant called Xieng Muan because their curries were delicious. Opposite was a place called "I Like Sweetie" which served delicious home made ice cream and pastries. The best ATM we found was BFL (2 million kip withdrawal for 30,000kip fee). We arranged a bus to Phonsavan and a flight from Vientiane to Pakse through a company called LuangChith (opposite BFL bank) who we found to be reliable and efficient. We thoroughly enjoyed Luang Prabang and were really able to chill out at the Paradise Resort.

spent a week here in February 2013. On the whole loved it. The staff were very helpful and sweet and went out of their way to please. The bedroom was simply furnished but everything worked and the ac was the quietest i have experienced in se asia! Pool was gorgeus and the surrounding garden lush and well kept. The main drawbacks were the poor times of the shuttle bus, a noisy nearby bar, and very simple breakfasts but they were served with such a smile, it didnt matter too much. I actually loved the monks chanting and temple gongs, it really added to the whole atmosphere of being Laos. One of the staff took us to the temple and it was a beautiful experience. The tuk tuk service into town was fine, but quite costly if you did it four times a day! On the whole the positive outweighed the negative and I would return.

I would never have stayed here had I read the Trip Advisor reviews, but we were stuck in Luang Prabang with a sick child and had messed up our booking at another resort nearby..and they organised for us to stay at the Paradise. The physical layout is great for families as kids can run free in the lovely gardens... very friendly and caring staff, and a cook who made us a few special meals for our recovering child.. Yes, the planes fly overhead a few times a day, but really there are so few flights in and out of Luang Prabang this is not a problem. Sure, there is a temple nearby... But would you expect anything less in this lovely city.. Yes, a bit far by tuktuk but a pedestrian and bicycle bridge nearby which gets you to the centre of Luang Prabang... Will definitely stay here next time I visit.

The garden and pool were nice, the bedrooms small, but pleasant, but otherwise nothing much worked. The beds were rock hard, the monks from a temple behind chanted from a loudhailer all day long and their drums and gongs started at 4am for several days during some celebration. The hotel served the worst breakfast we have ever had in Asia.
The hotel is located on the outskirts nrsr the airport and the flight path is directly above. They run an apparently free shuttle service 4 times a day into town with two of the times being designed to be totally useless like 8am when everybody had breakfast and 8pm with a return at 8.15pm. If one wanted to use it 10 minutes later one was charged, even if no one had wanted to use it at the specified times.Sometimes they could not call for a rickshaw and we had to make our way yo the main road past a group of snarling dogs. They had free bicycle hire, but they were in a poor state of repair and it was quite a long cycle ride into town
A manager was nowhere to be seen, but the group of young staff tried their best with a friendly smile.
