If you go there, you really have a wonderful time. Nice and helpful staff, very charming and friendly manager, excellent food, useful shuttle to town. A small pool, not very quiet behause of some street music in the afternoon - but who cares? We recommand not the Explorator Suites in the main building, because you hear everything in the morning, when the house starts to live - but when, try to get 601. Otherwise take Pioneer Suites, in the wonderful pieceful garden with rabbit Roger and his wife Ginger.

Room Tip: Pioneer Suites are more quiet than Explorator Suites.

Stayed 3 nights in October 2012. I've stayed in hotels all over the world but this just might be the best. The staff are wonderfully attentive. The food was excellent. The room was awesome. OK we were 2 out of only 3 couples in residence but it was just wonderful.

There is a free shuttle to the night market. It has a schedule but staff will take you and pick you up whenever if asked nicely. Fresh cooked breakfast was exquisite.

Room Tip: We stayed in an Explorateur suite in the main building. A little more pricey on the margin but worth it I'd say.

Simply lovely hotel. Tranquil setting, quiet and thoughtful understated service. Breakfast on the veranda is divine with freshly made yogurt, fresh fruits and baskets of croissants, pain au chocolat, etc. Yez, the hotel is bit pricey but worth every penny. The hotel offers a shuttle to the center of town and the Night Market. The rooms are grand with a canopied bed, sitting area and a porch to sit and take in the nature around you. Worth a stay, without a doubt.

The hotel has the look and feel of a beautiful colonial residence although I understand it is quite new. Our room was absolutely stunning with a lovely terrace and a nice seating area inside. The meals, both breakfasts and dinners were all exceptional. The staff is very attentive and we really enjoyed the delightful, relaxing pool. The little nightly treats with turndown accompanied by the names of the different staff members who recommended them were a lovely treat. This is a hotel that cares about the details.

We came to Laos for the New Year celebration and stayed at Luang Say Residence for 4 nights in the Explorator suite #602. We've stayed at other hotels in LP similarly priced and higher, but this hotel far exceeded all others. We thought about staying at Amantaka on this trip, but for 2.5 times the price we didn’t think that was worth the added expense, plus we wanted a hotel with more the local French Colonial ambiance.
This hotel is recently built on beautiful grounds outside the downtown area and is French Colonial in architecture and design. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed with top of the line furniture, bathroom fixtures, etc. The ceilings are high, approx. 12ft. The bed was very comfortable. Each room is air-conditioned and has a private terrace or balcony. You will not be sharing any space with neighboring units. The garden is wonderful. In addition to beautiful flowers, it supplies delicious herbs, vegetables, and lettuces for the onsite, superb, fine dining restaurant. The hotel is not inexpensive, but compared to others in the same category, it offers a far better value and experience. The pool is also wonderful. Large, tranquil, and provides space for many guests without feeling like it’s crowded. We used it every day and welcomed the relaxation the whole establishment offered after exploring for the day.
During our time in LP the hotel was fully booked, but we did not feel any intrusion. The layout of the hotel and grounds, plus the patience and personalized care provided to the guests offer a first class experience. The only recommendation we have is to provide on site massage service.
The place is very well managed. The staff was attentive, informed, helpful, and kind. They have a good recipe for making guests feel welcome, especially during the busiest time of year. They actually were able to book all last minute activity/excursions during this very busy period even though we had not reserved in advance. That’s what you expect of a first class hotel and they deliver.

Room Tip: Reserve an Explorator Suite, preferably room #602. Very spacious and luxurious. 3 balconies, great views.
