We were some of the first guests to stay at this newly opened colonial style hotel and I must say we were very impressed on many levels.
The building suits Luang Prabang perfectly - heritage splendour cleverly combined with contemporary comforts. We stayed in one of the Pioneer suites, which was a private with a dreamy four poster bed, a bathroom that inspired extended indulgence and a balconies that was perfect for sundowners gazing at the mountains that surround the town.
The extensive menu includes fabulous local and international cuisine, all skillfully prepared and beautifully presented. With Eggs Benedict on the breakfast menu and fine wines from the cellar for dinner, you can really live the high life enjoyed by the city's French administrators.
The staff were professional without being too formal. Miss Kee, who met us at the airport was a great ambassador for Laotian hospitality and the team even surprised me with a birthday cake, bursting into song when we arrived back late after shopping at the night market.
As one of few real luxury hotels in Luang Prabang, Lunag Say Residence stands out from the crowd. We strongly recommend combining your stay with a cruise on the Mekong (you can organise the whole trip in advance through the hotel) and also stay overnight at the Luang Say lodge further up the river. It makes forr the perfect blend of culture, nature and adventure without missing out on the finer things in life.
This was my third trip to Launag Prabang and Luang Say Residence is a definitely welcome addition to the accommodation options. Great pool too.

Room Tip: Suites, four poster beds, huge bathrooms, great fd

The residence was really nice, designed with real taste.
Superb service, great comfortable rooms and exceptional foods.
I recommend it for a late 'honeymoon'.

Stayed at the Luang Say just a week or so after it had opened. There were some slight glitches in the rooms (eg leak in the plumbing), but these were dealt with quickly and with fulsome apologies. The management offered to move us, but we loved our room so much we declined.

The hotel is owned by a French company (family owned) and is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. The rooms were beautifully appointed, every luxury thought of, and the grounds absolutely stunning. The rooms are in low rise blocks set in the grounds and the architechture is sympathetic to the environment. Each room has a beautiful verandah or balcony with a view of the glorious gardens.

The infinity swimming pool is breathtaking, and is designed to appear to be a pool set deep in the jungle - no garish bright turquoise here.

The staff were incredibly charming and helpful. Breakfast was imaginative, beautifully presented and served on a verandah overlooking the garden. We also ate a wonderful lunch there.

We were on a 3 week trip taking in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos and this hotel was the best of several excellent hotels we stayed in. Staying at the Luang Say at Luang Prabang is paradise on earth.

Highly recommended. My girlfriend and I went to the Luang Say residence for our honey moon. It was a blast. The location is astounding and the service great. Each evening, upon returning to our room, we were greated with lovely gifts. The cocktails, comfortably seated in a club armchair, are a must!!!
