“Beautiful lotus ponds, exceptional service. Recommend staying here in Luang Prabang”
Reviewed May 14, 2014

I stayed here for four nights and the property is truly amazing. It is about 5 minutes of walking straight down the main stretch of activity in LP - i.e. a nice leisurely stroll to the daily night market, food and other amenities. Fantastic rooms in very serene surroundings, the lotus ponds are a welcome sight after a long day of hiking, biking (good mountain bikes are available for your use at the hotel) or just walking. Service is discreet and thoughtful - on my last night, I had a mildly unpleasant experience with noise from partying going on at one of the hotel's neighbours. Nonetheless, I have to say that the hotel handled the situation very well and professionally. I had called down to reception to ask if the duty manager could try to speak with the house next door to turn down their jarring music since it was coming towards midnight. The night duty manager (a local) gamely went alone twice to approach the neighbours (a group of 6 to 7 drunk people next door) and tried to solve the noise problem. I have to say that I felt my concerns were taken seriously and every possible effort was made to make me comfortable. The next day the owners of the hotel apologized for the noise even though the noise the night before was through no fault of theirs.

We were amazed by the decoration and the charming lily pond, which is lit a night, making it a very special place.
The hotel is very well located as it is at walking distance from the main road, while far enough to be on a peaceful neighborhood.
The hotel is run by the french couple Rudy and Marion. They have excellent English, are friendly and eager to share their knowledge about Luang Prabang sites and culture. Don't miss their recommendations to take better advantage of your visit to Luang Prabang.
The room are clean and spacious, with a balcony overlooking the pond, nice decorated with local style. The bathroom has a wonderful shower and is stylish.
Breakfast was served by the pond , they serve your choices on the table, just cooked as you order, what is very convenient.

You can't go wrong at Maison Dalabua

Very nice hotel in Luang Prabang, with good situation.
The French tenant is full of advices, and the hotel crew is caring and reactive.
The place is lovely, charming, the rooms are nice and clean, with aircond, and the deluxe have a balcony.
They lend good bikes, the food is good, great breakfast (eggs, noddle soup...).
Very good value, this hotel has every thing you need.

We where there during Pi Mai (Lao new year) and despite the great activity, it was quite quiet.
This city is wonderful to spend few days.

Room Tip: Deluxe is a plus, to have a balcony in front of the lovely pond.

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights in February and wished we'd had longer. The rooms were very good, and each had its own balcony looking over a lily pond - a perfect place to relax at the end of the day.

The central hotel space was what made this hotel special - both the bar and restaurant area were set in the central part of the hotel, and were open to the sunshine, and around the lily pond. Happy hour drinks were good quality, and under £1, and add this to the stunning location, and its not possible to get any better.

The hotel was very well located for the night market and most restaurants - it was a 10 minutes walk to the closest part of the market.

Breakfast was good, with a selection of french bread and a choice of hot food cooked to order along with fruit and continental breakfast.

Luang Prabang is a charming town and we wished we had longer than the day and half we had. We would certainly not hesitate to stay here again!

I stayed at Maison Dalabua Hotel with my husband, son and parents for four days in February. From the moment we saw the property we felt that it was special, and I loved that it was nestled in a neighborhood as opposed to being on one of the main streets (the center of town is about a 10 minute walk, which was easy and enjoyable). We were in Bungalow 102, which was a new room with a lovely balcony, and my parents were in a pond view room (112) which was equally as nice.
The managers, Rudy and Marion, were very welcoming and friendly, and they were able to share a lot of information with us about Luang Prabang; they made some great recommendations and arrangements for local trips to the Elephant Village and the Waterfall.
One of the reasons that I loved Luang Prabang is that it is a beautiful little town with the opportunity to see "real people" and how they live. When you find that, you may also have things that don't particularly enhance your travel experience, but that you accept as being a part of learning about a place and a people. While we were at the hotel, the family that lived in a house next door was celebrating that a baby had reached a certain age (I think that it is the time when the child is given a name, maybe a month old or so), and that meant three days of partying. We had the opportunity to learn first-hand that this partying is characterized by three days of music and karaoke being played at a high volume, from morning until night (10 pm). This was a "special occasion," so it does not happen often, but it was happening while we were there and the poor managers were doing everything in their power to make the situation better for the guests; we were not right next to the music and we were able to stand it, but they did end up moving some people to another hotel, which impressed me (it was absolutely the right thing to do, and they were not going to make the guests suffer because of bad luck with timing).
Another thing that is part of being in a "real" place is that people have roosters, and at least once a night we were woken up by roosters and dogs - but that is part of being in a quaint little town, so we just went back to sleep and then I had to listen to my husband making jokes about eating rooster for lunch each day!
We enjoyed happy hour by the pond each afternoon, and ate at the restaurant two out of the four nights that we were in town - the food was fresh and delicious, and I highly recommend the green curry and the pumpkin soup. The staff was wonderful, from the cook that gave my son a little bowl of chocolate cereal each day while we were at happy hour, to the young man who got in the little boat to retrieve the toy that my son had dropped off the balcony (which could have been a major crisis!), to the staff behind the desk. I loved the place and highly recommend it - with or without earplugs!

We stayed one week at the Maison Dalabua and enjoyed every day there. The rooms are very clean and have a nice atmosphere, the A/C is running silently, the beds are so big and so comfortable, and the rain douche was even wonderful. Bikes for rent are free, which was very convinient. But mostly we enjoyed the very nice lotus lakes, which are all over the hotel. You can only sit there anywhere and relax by looking at the cute lily ponds. Staff also was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ok, better than in many places in Asia, but after a few days too much the same. We would always choose the Dalabua as hotel in Luang Prabang again.

This is a really nice property, with friendly staff, set in a fantastic lotus/lily pond aqua garden.
The room we stayed in 102 was very tastefully designed with a modern bathroom suit and a full sized bath. There was lashings of hot water that enabled the bath to be filled without running cold.
The room was tastefully furnished and had a king sized bed complete with beautifully laundered crisp white linen. The bed was super comfortable. A small flat screen tv with over 40 international channels was also a nice touch.
Tours could be booked at reception and compared in price very favourably with the local tour operators. Free bicycles were a nice touch too.
Breakfast was provided on an outdoor veranda , good selection available with the usual cooked omelet , poached or fried eggs.
Now the not so good bits.
I reported that the overhead bedside light was not working and required attention, nothing was done to address this issue.
The extractor fan in the bathroom is totally useless and leaves the whole bathroom resembling a sauna when taking a shower.
And finally the NOISE. This place is under constant bombardment from the local cockerels, dogs and motorbikes. Sleep was virtually impossible.
This is not a place for a quiet stay, insomnia comes free with every room.

Room Tip: All rooms are subject to the constant noise.
