“Peaceful haven - outstanding customer service”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

The surroundings of this hotel are exquisitely beautiful as it is set in a lush tropical oasis with lotus ponds. It is a handy 10 minute walk from the night market, and just a short stroll from the best coffee in Luang Prabang at JoMa Cafe.

What sets this place apart thought is its customer service. My friend and I arrived tired after a day of travel to find that each of our rooms had two single beds, when our request on booking had been for a large bed in each of our rooms. Nothing was too much trouble. Housekeeping staff were called (though it was after 7pm) and by the time we had dinner and returned to our rooms, the rooms were beautifully made up according to our preferences.

Restaurant is great as well...not too much more pricey than restaurants in the town centre.

We would come back here in a heartbeat.

We are a couple and a teenager. Stayed in Maison Dalabua for five days and did not want to leave. It was the highlight of all our Indochina travel. Staff did not measure efforts to make our stay enjoyable - helped us on every possible way. Lovely environment (the lotus pond is really beautiful), great location (quiet, yet walking distance to everything). Wonderful rooms. Good restaurant, nice breakfast made with care. No five star hotel would be so enjoyable as this one; highly recommended!

Room Tip: We took the room on the second floor, overlooking the beautiful lotus pond. Recommend it.

Maison Dalabua was the perfect place to stay in Luang Prabang.
This was my fourth visit to Luang Prabang, since 1996.
I have stayed at different hotels each time, and I can truly say that Maison Dalabua has been the best.
It is located in a quiet, mainly residential part of town, just off the main road leading to the city centre, which you can reach by a 10 minute walk.
The hotel is designed around two large lotus ponds. An open Reception, a Lounge area overlooking the front pond, walkways over and along the ponds leading to the Accommodation area, and a Dining area which also overlooks the ponds.
Overall, on entering the premises, you feel more like being in a home, not a hotel.
The lotus ponds are so beautiful, and there is a peaceful and calm atmosphere all around.
The Accommodation area is located in a two-storey building, tastefully designed.
Rooms on both floors, as well as common sitting areas.
We stayed at a ground floor room. The room was spacious, the beds comfortable, well appointed room with a large closet, cable TV, dressing table, slippers, refrigerator, tea-coffee making facilities, free water provided daily, airconditioners, and a terrace overlooking the lotus ponds.
The ensuite bathroom was well designed, modern and efficient, decorated in a mix of traditional and contemporary styles, and good quality toiletries were provided.
The breakfast was excellent, strong coffee or tea, eggs to taste, homemade jam, fruit juice, fresh bread, and fruit platter.
I must make a special mention regarding the Staff at Maison Dalabua. Outstanding team. Led by the Residence Manager, William, they provide excellent customer service. Any requests are kindly attended to. There is always a Staff member available to assist guests.
We were also quite impressed of the high standards of maintenance at the hotel. Bedrooms were promptly cleaned, corridors and common areas, as well as the beautiful lotus ponds were constantly attended to.
During the day we kept returning to the hotel, longing to enjoy a peaceful break from wandering around the city.
The hotel also offers free bicyles for guest, which is a convenient and safe option if one wants to explore a bit more of the city.
I would heartily recommend Maison Dalabua for staying in Luang Prabang.

The setting of this hotel is one of the most beautiful we've ever seen: to get to the hotel, you take a wooden walkway across an enormous waterlily pond. Breakfast is also served on a deck right next to the pond. Breakfast was fantastic - we ordered the banana-honey pancake several times and I'm definitely trying this recipe at home. All the staff was extremely friendly and helpful, but especially William the manager at the front desk. He gave us great recommendations for things to see and where to eat. Our room was nicely furnished and the bathroom had a great walk-in shower. At night we could sometimes hear a bit of noise from other guests, but overall we slept very well. We would definitely stay here again. Warmly recommended!

The hotel was lovely set in its own grounds. The breakfast was continental style and I could have done with a little more choice but other that that the staff were friendly and helpful and they even had free cycles for you to use.

Thank you very much.
We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us.
For the breakfast, I think that when you were there, we had only,
-Part buffet with baguette and homemade jam, coffee, tea, fresh fruits plate, yogurt, and fresh juice, and
- Part "a la carte" (choice of eggs or pancakes or Asian breakfast (rice or noodle soup), or crème caramel.
But since 2 weeks, we have a new addition to our continental breakfast: homemade cake or crepe, several days per week, so we really hope that if you come to visit us again, you will appreciate this additional diversity to our breakfast.

The first thing you see is the lotus pond - serene and calm. The second is William the Manager - what William didn't know about Laos - and especially Luang Prabang - was not worth knowing. We mainly dealt with William but want to emphasise that all staff was most helpful - as well as the charming owner - nothing was too difficult. Vegetarian meals were provided, bicycles offered for free, cooking school arranged, advice on tours and activities given - we felt very well looked after. This was much appreciated as it was our first visit to Laos. We stayed in the second floor pond-view room - very lovely!

Room Tip: Second floor rooms overlooking the pond have wonderful views
