“Delicious food and trendy surroundings but long wait for food and not at all Lao”
Reviewed April 4, 2013

Delicious food and drinks in a cool building ideal as a meeting point to hitch up with friends. It is not at all asian so wouldn't have been y choice if our guide hadn't suggested it but a lot of people were using it for the wi-fi access and there is a very quiet room on the first floor if you need peace and quiet. There are spacious toilets so ideal if you need to change before going to the blue lagoons.

Hi ladywholunches,

Thanks a lot for your review of Joma. We glad that you gave us a chance even though, yes, we do not serve any Lao food nor try to be a Lao restaurant. We want to provide our guests with an oasis that reminds them of home so they can get out into the beautiful country maybe with a coffee or cinnamon bun.

Have a great rest of your travels,

Management

“Mixed feelings, coffee but not into the burrito..”
Reviewed April 3, 2013 via mobile

A little disappointed overall...

Great coffee with free refill for the large, probably the best bathrooms in Laos (and its not 2000 kip ) Wifi, english newspapers

Prices are higher thas local food, but its not local food so its unfair to complain about that.

The breakfast burrito was the biggest disappointment, cold tortilla, very small portion of egg, salsa, cheese which was not melted. Salmon bagel was tasty.

Tuk tuk driver out front was one of the more aggressive ones i experienced in town, not jomas fault but still a negative for me, both while going in and going out. .Had a weird experience with front counter girls, I might have been the subject of a funny joke which needed to be shared with all the other staff who in turn looked at me simultaneously. Perhaps a misinterpretation, but curious nonetheless.

A praise to the management in their response to the review of ossimandus, it is a downright idiotic review and insulting to pretty much everyone except their tuk tuk driver, how does a 'genuine' backpacker fall in love with the worst tourist abusers?? What a joke. Glad to see managements stand up to nonsense reviews.

Hi Julbo09,

Thanks for your review of Joma. It sounds like you quite enjoyed the coffee and found our renovated bathrooms to your liking.

We apologize for your breakfast burrito not being to what is normally a very good standard. We've taken the steps to assure this won't happen again and are glad you liked the salmon bagel sandwich.

Also, not sure what happened with the cashier but with the language differences and the fact that few people can speak the native language, there can be some confusion. We train our staff to NEVER speak about a customer in and language because it may come across as offensive.

Thanks for the compliment on our response! We take a lot of pride in our staff and cafe and are glad there is a forum for us to thank our customers for their review or respectfully disagree with them.

Have a great rest of your journey,

Management

“Perfect afternoon break”
Reviewed March 31, 2013

This cafe is so clean and so well organised that one could easily think of entering a cafe in the Western world. We tried the greek and tune salads, the dressings were a bit to sour. The cookies and brownies were good, as well as the coffee. What is really unbeatable is the atmosphere, especially the laid back interior with it's large leather armchairs.

Hi georgtrapp,

Thanks a ton for your review of Joma! We love the honest feedback and will look into the dressings, which usually don't have a sour taste. We're sorry you had this experience. Your comments on our cleanliness and organization is a credit to our wonderful staff who work their butts off!

Have a great and safe rest of your journey,

“Good coffee, good service”
Reviewed March 30, 2013

We sought this place out after reading Trip Advisor reviews. The cafe had air conditioning which was great on a hot night. They also served water complimentary water which was appreciated. The coffee was good and after nearly 4 weeks of travelling in Indochina we needed a choclate fix. We had the Chocolate cake and Naimamo Slice; both very good. It was reasonably busy but didn't take too long to get served. The next time we went the queue was a bit long and we decided not to wait. The prices are quite a bit less than you would pay in Australia for the same thing.
