We had the most brilliant seven days staying at the Apsara Rive Droite. The hotel itself is incredibly elegant and peaceful with a beautiful pool. The rooms are a perfect mix of Colonial Indochinese style and modern comfort....breakfast was beautiful and the staff very helpful. The manager also gave us great local insider information so do ask her anything you might be interested in seeing. Highly recommended.

Awesome place. Highly recommended. Great food, quiet nights. I highly recommend this place to my friends visiting LP. Friendly staff. Easy to find. Good value for $. The pool is awesome on a hot day! Recommend making reservations early as the place tends to fill up in peak months.

We absolutely loved this hotel. We stayed for three nights as part of a 2 week trip and wished we could have stayed for longer! The relaxed luxury welcomes you like an old friend. The staff were delighful - nothing ever seemed too much trouble. The rooms were beautifully decorated and fitted out. We were there in the 'rainy season', umbrellas in our rooms and mini vans and tuk tuks were ordered if we felt it was too wet for the boat trip! Brita was very helpful and suggested a bike ride to the local villages to watch paper making - a worthwhile trip although the road was quite rough in places. The hotel was not busy but we really appreciated being able to keep our room until we needed to go - not forced checkout time - makes such a difference. If you are going to Luang Prabang I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough - one of the best I have ever stayed in.

Room Tip: We had a room at road level with a river view, it was above the restaurant which may get noisy during busy periods. Our friends had a pool view room, not much to choose between the two.

This hotel is absolutely gorgeous.

We went to Luang Prabang as part of our honeymoon – it was our first (hopefully not last!) trip to Laos. The hotel picked us up from the airport, which is really close to the hotel. The driver was prompt and very friendly. When we got to the hotel we were greeted warmly and checked in right away.
The front desk area is in a lovely open air room with beautiful furnishings. All the staff was extremely kind and friendly. Since we went during low season there was only one other room taken in the hotel.

Our room was gorgeous!!! Beautiful dark hardwood floors, a huge bathroom and a large bed. We had a deck on the upper floor that looked out onto trees and the river (which you can’t quite see from there – at least not from our room – number 3). We had lovely outside furniture (which we definitely did take at least one nap on) and a view of the pool. There was a plate of fresh fruit waiting inside for us – complimentary.

The bathroom has a VERY large tub separate from the shower. The shower and the toilet do not have a door (but the bathroom itself closes of course!) but are separated from each other by a frosted glass. There were two sinks in our bathroom and they have really nice soap for you to use (they do not provide conditioner, though maybe they would if you asked – we didn’t though so I don’t know). The mirror in front of the sinks slide to open out onto the bedroom if you’d like.

The bed was very comfortable! The rooms are air conditioned and they have a VERY powerful ceiling fan. We were not hot one bit – and we went during one of the hottest months!

They provide a type of sound/light device (which isn’t bright or loud) that apparently does something to keep away bugs and it definitely worked 100%. We did have a tiny, tiny baby lizard in our room though – we liked that however because it would keep away the bugs.
They do not provide you with a tv in the room but mentioned that they could put one in there if we liked – we did not take advantage of this offer though.
The fridge has some (very cheap!!) water and Beerlao. They also give you 2 free water bottles a day so you don’t get dehydrated in all the heat.

After exploring our room we met the owner – she was very friendly and helpful. She set up a banana boat tour of the river and a tuk tuk to take us there. She mentioned that if we ever needed anything that the front desk could call her at any time – we never ended up needing to use that service however as Luang Prabang is lovely and everyone there is very friendly and helpful.

This hotel is located on the other side of the river (which is why it has a pool!) so you do have to take a little boat over to the other side. The boat was always there when we wanted it – we just mentioned to the hotel if we wanted it/asked if it was down there and if we were on the other side and wanted to go back over we asked the other Apsara. It was always down there however and takes all of 2 mins to get to the other side.

The pool was lovely! We had it basically to ourselves – it was really large and beautiful. When we were swimming the hotel staff brought us some lovely ice water as well. All the ice they use in the hotel is from bottled water so no worries about that.

Breakfast was wonderful as well. We watched the chef go into the garden and get fresh herbs and eggs for our breakfast. He made us a wonderful meal with homemade jams and eggs and bread. It was all very delicious. We also ate lunch there once before we left and that was really good as well.

Overall, we really loved this hotel and would definitely come back to it if we come again (hopefully we will!)

Room Tip: The upper level rooms are great because they have a wonderful view. The lower level rooms have direct pool access however -- which could be great too!

Waking up on the first morning of our week's stay with the sound of mysterious, solemn monastery drums was just one of the many new and wonderful experiences we enjoyed from this hotel. Located across the river from the main town ensured that the gardens and pool remained calm and peaceful - and we lost count of the magnificent butterflies viewed from our balcony. Breakfast was extremely good and fresh - best baguettes and jam ever had, and the staff - particularly in the kitchen/bar (thank you, Sine) - were so welcoming and friendly that one felt as though the hotel was one's own villa. Brita, managing, was also most helpful whenever required, but left us undisturbed if we had no queries. We enjoyed the use of the hotel bicycles to explore locally (note - this is a hilly country with bumpy tracks!), but if you have restricted mobility, you would need to take tuktuks or taxis to reach the town centre, as the bridges/riverbanks would be a challenge. We were loth to leave this charming hotel in this extraordinary town on the Mekhong - so atmospheric that it has a dreamlike quality in one's memories.
